  1. Started on New Year's Day for me and it's still hanging around. Lost my voice for 3 days, that was fun, and I still wake up in the morning with a raunchy voice...hard to yell at Ollie when he tries to wake me up...I sound like I smoked a carton before going to bed.
  2. And Robyn's in Toronto next week on the 26th, and Montreal on the 27th.
  3. Ah...I went through the trouble of logging on here because I wanted to post pretty much exactly what you said, Hamilton! So yeah, ditto.
  4. I don't understand why this woman says that she's surprised about Picard withdrawing. Duh...what did she expect? Weird quote...what does she have to think about? From the Montreal Gazette: Monday's announcement came as a complete surprise to animal-rights activists, who protested against foie gras on Dec. 14 outside a downtown hotel where the NCC was holding a news conference about planned Winterlude events. "This is the first I've heard of it," said Sue Lawrence, spokeswoman for the Ottawa Animal Defence League. "I don't really know this other chef. I feel kind of neutral about it. I'd like to have time to think about it." Read more: http://www.montrealgazette.com/life/Montreal+chef+Martin+Picard+withdraws+from+Ottawa+fest/4093490/story.html#ixzz1AyFygTBP
  5. This will interest bouche and Ms. Hux: Review of Luke's Gastronomy in the Ottawa Citizen . Mike, I kept the printed article for your scrapbook...there's a picture of Luke in action.
  6. Ah, but he seems like such a nice man. But what a loss that was!
  7. I'm not saying people can't protest. Just saying that Picard should have ignored them. So yeah, this event is ruined by a combination of both the protesters complaining in the first place and then Picard being too proud to still show up.
  8. I disagree...not good on him. He lost. The protesters won...not only was he not going to serve foie gras, but now he's not showing up at all. Not that I was going to this event, so I don't care but some people were excited about this, and the protesters ruined it for them.
  9. This has nothing to do with fines, but Ottawa might only pick up garbage every two weeks now. Not sure how I feel about that...I kinda like my garbage to leave my premises every week: City of Ottawa proposes to cut garbage pickup, increase recycling and composting BY DAVID REEVELY, OTTAWA CITIZENJANUARY 6, 2011 OTTAWA — The city is proposing to collect green bins and all recycling in urban Ottawa every week year-round, but to collect regular garbage only once every two weeks. The plan is to be the subject of six public consultations this month on its residential garbage and recycling collection programs, A news release from City Hall says that everything is on the table, from garbage to blue and black boxes, green bins, hazardous waste, and the yellow-bag program that lets small businesses piggyback their garbage on to the residential collection program for a fee. The original plan for the green-bin composting program included reducing the frequency of regular garbage collection to help offset some of the costs of the green bins and to encourage people to use them wherever possible rather than having garbage hanging around the house for an extra week. City council put off that reduction, though, in an effort to avoid antagonizing residents already skeptical of the composting bins. Now, in addition to putting that into practice, the proposal is that in urban Ottawa, all kinds of recycling would be collected together every week, along with compostables. In rural Ottawa, the proposal is slightly different: Green bins would be collected every week in the warmer months but every other week in winter, as is the case now in the urban part of Ottawa. Recycling would be collected all together, but only once a month. And other garbage would be collected every other week instead of weekly. The release says the city has several proposals for the public to discuss, but a spokesman said a technical glitch is preventing them from being posted to the city website yet. When they are, they should be at ottawa.ca/wastereview. The consultation schedule is: Thursday, January 13 5 to 9 p.m. Walter Baker Recreation Centre 100 Malvern Dr. Saturday, January 15 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rideau Centre 50 Rideau St. Sunday, January 16 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Place D’Orléans 110 Place D’Orléans Dr. Saturday, January 22 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Carlingwood Mall 2121 Carlingwood Ave. Sunday, January 23 Noon to 4:30 p.m. Herongate Mall 1670 Heron Rd. Saturday, January 29 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bayshore Shopping Centre 100 Bayshore Dr. © Copyright © The Ottawa Citizen

    WINE!!

So pretty...did you buy that from the website included in your post?
  13. Poutini...exactly what I need right now. I want it.
  14. Yeah, I got the e-mail from Primus too. This sucks but it won't affect me since I don't download a lot anyway. I figure it's not worth switching since indeed most providers will probably go this way too. And Rogers doesn't have unlimited usage anyway, correct? As for my phone, I don't have a cell phone, so I'll just stick with my Bell land line which doesn't cost me very much and doesn't rely on the internet.
  15. Happy belated birthday Velvet!! I love New York City and your post shows why! The City in snow must be wonderful to see. Enjoy the last day of 2010!
  16. Happy Birthday Jay!! Ollie's mom told me just last week that she misses you (your travel agent services, of course).
  17. Who will be checking it out? I don't think I'll wanna wake up at 2ish this morning. Globe and Mail article
  18. What type of damage was there from the food you were giving your cat? And how did you prove that the food did it?
  19. Oh yeah, Ollie didn't mention that our cat was diagnosed with IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), which includes excess hairballs, vomiting, not eating for long periods of time, excess grooming, anxiety, blah blah. She's a little mess, but even when she doesn't eat for five days in a row, she still has amazing energy. She's just a little bag of nerves!
