  1. I'm in for Friday at noon.
  2. My first Jay's game was a season opener. They lost 16-3 I think, and the tickets were $2 (face value). If I lived in Toronto I'd be all over these free ticket offers of yours SP.
  3. In celebration of the upcoming show me and phorbesie watched Still Smokin' the other night. The music is sooooo cheesy and as the credits rolled we noticed that the ultra cheesy song "Delirious" was written and performed by Prince. Wow, did he get better.
  4. As for the inevitable call for capital punishment - c'mon, we're above that. We know that murder is murder regardless of who makes the call, and state-sponsored murder is especially insidious and often media-driven. Plus we all learned that two wrongs don't make a right. As for people getting freaked out riding the bus - seriously there's no way this will create copycats. To think that somebody will hear this story and think, "Hey, neat idea, I think I'll try that," strikes me as absurd. Finally, as to why people didn't come to the young man's rescue, I can only assume that by the time people realised what was going on I bet the average person would think it was too late to help but not to late to save themselves and those around them from a murderous rampage. This was a horrible event caused by someone who is obviously very sick. It makes me wonder why a case like this would require a psychiatric evaluation. Doesn't the act itself prove that the perp is unstable to say the least? How could a psychiatrist come forward and say, "After an evaluation I find this person was completely sane when he randomly sawed off the head of a man on a bus."
  5. Mmmmmm...Meat Loaf Pie.
  6. Don't ask me! I wore contacts for almost 25 years and I doubt I'll ever stick one of those things in my eyes again! They did save me from going blind, so I appreciate that, but give me glasses every time! To answer one of your questions though, they pop out when you tug at the corner of your eye (though that would occasionally cause them to slide to the back of my eyeball clinging with ridiculously strong suction force). For the record, I wore hard contacts which I think nobody wears anymore.
  7. "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that." That was the opening song the first time I saw the Loafster. Great, great show.
  8. Thanks for posting this, but I have a question, and please pardon my ignorance of world issues: What does Sudan have to do with China?
  9. I saw Mark KNopfler at the Palladium and it was curtained off. I think the seating woulda been from about Sections 118 to 104 in the seating plan above.
  10. It feels like at least twenty years ago. That was a fun tour. I got some practise at making butterfly bandages for carstairs. We hit the first aid tent at every show.
  11. What was the total price for that pair Mike?
  12. Methinks most of the bigger bands drive at night - load out, pull out, arrive, load in, sleep.
  13. Tix will be more expensive through the musictoday presale right? Given that they will add service charges and mailing charges etc. Anyone wanna back me up on these supposed facts?
  14. I'm gonna camp out at the box office all afternoon.
  15. Tix on sale @ 4:20: Reserved seating tickets are $49.50 and $65.50 plus service charges, on sale this Friday, Aug. 8 at 4:20 p.m. at the NAC box-office, all Ticketmaster outlets, charge by phone at 613-755-1111 or online at www.ticketmaster.ca
  16. Whaattttt!?! Holy moley! Are tix on sale for Ottawa yet?
  17. Happy Birthday Mike. Thanks for all the work you do to keep us all glued to our computer screens!
  18. It's just the practicality of it. As worried as one gets on the road with a van full of gear, you just can't have someone sleeping in the van every night on a long tour.
  19. I'd happily see that Montreal show.
  20. Happy Birthday my sweet, sweet friend! Sorry I had to miss (another) one of your birthdays!
  21. So, you going phorbesie?
  22. Assuming the cops aren't lying or making up false reports, anyway. Who the hell says, "Come on in!" to the cops when they've got a pile of drugs out in plain view? I mean, I know some people are pretty stupid, but that would be *really* stupid. Officers are trained to trick you into compliance. One of their most valuable weapons is the phrase, "Okay if I look around," or "I'm coming in there, allright" In normal life the average person doesn't view phrases like that as asking permission. Train yourself to know when you're giving up your rights.
