  1. 1st night was decent well played but conservative with not too many chances taken. the 1st set closer of "Run like an Antelope" was the highlight. 2nd night, second set was crazy! That was the shit, on par with the second set Deer Creek. WOW!
  2. My folks live in thsi little town and it actually rocks. There is a crew of decent folks that love to party hardy. I will be djing and making sure only the smoothest sounds are mixed. We are also renting extra sound gear for the hall and a giant disco ball. If you are anywhere close I encourage you to come by you will not be disappointed.
  3. [color:orange]SWEETBACK! v.11 [color:brown]"A pound of disco hotness, peppered with burning funk served fresh on the dancefloor." Friday June 26th @ Augusta House (152 Augusta Ave.) 9:30 start/Free before 10:30pm $5 @ door A montlhy event every last Friday! featuring Djs [color:orange]Leisure Suit Larry Jive Express(Chameleon Project) Platform Shag The Sweetback! Creed The Disco is all encompassing. The Funk ever expansive. While the waters of both run deep, it takes blood, sweat and tear soaked dedication to trim the fat and make the sonic river run solid gold. At Sweetback!, we savour our beats like Dom Perignon; the rarer the vintage the better. To this end, we are dedicated to playing only the finest rarieties, out of print smashes and forgotten dancefloor monsters. Classic tracks that missed the charts, but kept bodies moving in discotechs around the world and continue to be sampled today. Music forever immortalized as the foundation of house, breaks, techno and beyond. We may throw in some Gibb, Jackson, or a little KC when the musical flow demands, but expect to bump 'till it breaks on the baddest jams you probably never heard. 8. This is sad. Tisdale could really shoot the three and was a great positive force in the NBA.
  9. Saw Jamie DJ a killer set at the Cherry Beach promise/alien Influx party yesterday. Can't wait for the disco set.
  10. All jokes aside, this man is a jazz giant. He has played wioth Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker and Red Norvo to name a few. Catch this show. Dick Hyman is one of the greatest pianist of the 20th century. He is in the realm of Bill Evans, George Shearing and Oscar Peterson. Don't miss that show, I've seen him and was blown away. Check his bio Diskc Hyman Discography

  12. Why am I not surprised. This is kind of like natural selection in baseball. If you are dumb enough to keep using roids after all the warning and new testing them your are dumb enough not to play. I think 50 games may be too light. How 'bout you get caught using and your gone forever! Pete Rose is gone for that long and no one questions his accomplishments on the field.
  13. I don't enjoy their music at all or the hype they receive from every hipster press rag falling all over themselves to praise them. Average at best, just really boring. Just one man's opinion though.
  14. I also hate the Arcade Fire. So overhyped.
  15. I guess when I am in the US I always assume they are somewhere in the crowd at shows. sucks.
  16. [color:gray]Check out Phil in this, he's awesome!
  17. Perhaps so, but if you have ever been to a Grateful Dead show in the 90's it was a fact of life. I'd rather see them and know they are there than not know. Pretty standard in the good ol' USA.
  18. Well if that is the case then can we start a petition to have Bobby trim the wolverine that is attached to his face, get a die job, some plugs and start wearing the diasy duke jean shorts again? Oh and while we are at it he'd better put on that Tampalis Chiefs shirt again.
  19. Totally! That would be my dream.. Ideally this... Shakedown -->Dancin' in the Street ('77 style) -->Music Never Stopped -->Finuculi Finicula -->Hey Pocky Way P.S. Why does Phil seems more youthful than Bobby yet Bobby is 7 years younger and did not have liver transplant??
  20. I was at the show and thought while the sets were well played they were very pedestrian, very safe, no many chances taken. At times boring. The highlights for me was the drums/space jam that veered in to house territory with Jeff Chementi on keys. Other than that the "Eyes" and "Ramble On ROse" were good. Seems every time Bobby wears pants the show suffers. Also is it possible that the Dead, Ratodog, or Phil and Friends can ever play a show in Western N.Y. and not play "Truckin'". It's getting really predictable at this point. Enjoyable all the same tough.
  21. BTW this event is monthly on the last Friday of every month and as a special skank offer. Anyone from this board who mentions this post is in for free before 10:30pm
