  1. In support of her new album, which is out tomorrow. So good to see Gillian Welch is back in action! Seems like its been years. Mon. July 25 @ The Phoenix 7pm Tix $35+ http://www.gillianwelch.com/tour/ Give the new album a listen here: http://www.npr.org/2011/06/26/137346722/first-listen-gillian-welch-the-harrow-and-the-harvest
  2. I didn't know about the GCH rumours, but now that I do I'm hoping for Ophelia!
  3. You do have to wonder if and how they're going to pay tribute to the Summer Jam eh? Maybe a 3 song segue with one selection from each band? Levon isn't working this weekend either (according to his site), who knows.
  4. Steam (They're going to take this song up a notch next weekend) Bathtub Gin Carini Fikus Dogs Stoke Things (good call Freaker!) It's hard to make a top 5, but any of those would be great!
  5. I snuck in to the tent! The security guy was texting and I zoomed right in. My friend right behind me wasn't so lucky. Aretha's voice brought the thunder! Worst show set up EVER though down there by the way. Horrible sight lines (or no sight lines at all) for the 90% of the crowd who were not inside the tent that she played in. The Orbit Room was to capacity which was a bummer as I had about 15 people heading there for my bday! Went to some other place called NACO instead.
  6. Heyo, Anyone else checking out Aretha for free at the TO Jazz Fest? Here's all the info: http://torontojazz.com/concert/aretha-franklin NOTE: Admission is free. Outdoor video screens at Metro Square will make the concert accessible for everyone. No tickets. No seating. Wristband Policy for Access to the Marquee: A limited number of wristbands will be distributed at 4:00pm on Friday June 24th at the "Will Call" tent on the north side of Metro Square (near King Street)on a first come, first served basis. Marquee doors open at 7:00pm. Limit of 1 wristband per person. I have the afternoon off, so gonna head down to get a wristband for the marquee. I am not familiar with the venue set up at all, wonder what this is all about. Ride The Tiger is playing at The Orbit Room after if you're looking for something funky to do!
  7. Haha. I'm all set by the way - thanks Tungsten!
  8. Leaving Hamilton around 7:30 AM on Friday over here..

This Friday once again at the Orbit Room... Perfect place to be after the free Aretha Franklin show downtown. AND it's my birthday!
  11. PM sent! Thanks for the suggestion Jaybone. I noticed the message board on the Hillside webpage is no more.
  12. Heyo, I am on the lookout for a Hillside Festival weekend pass for a friend o' mine. Anyone got a spare??
  13. I'm in! Can't wait, the Phish are on fire.
  14. Thanks for the link! Just got home, clicked on it and Meatstick just started.
  15. He's recording an album with Glyn Johns. "Johns is the man behind a slew of classic records like the Rolling Stones’ Satanic Majesties Request and Beggar’s Banquet, Eric Clapton’s Slowhand, and several LPs by The Who."
  16. NW - Sorry we missed you too! I knew you were headed for the Titus Adronicus show that evening. We were a bit further back (as it was a big group) which made for lacklustre sound quality, I thought. Having Elkas on stage was a bonus for sure. Bones - no worries, just bustin your balls! May have to wait 'til the next Radiohead show to see you.
  17. NewRider and Bones, thought I'd see you dudes at the Dakota!! :nhl:
  18. Nice one Rev! Now when can I catch this Dan Romano fellow live?
  19. My first show in 7 years and I loved every second of it too. Great playing, great setlist!! I finally really remembered why I loved Phish so much. They blew me away. Especially Mike! Good sight lines from where we were on the lawn. Nice to see a bunch of you Ottawa and Chatham skanks, too brief though.
