  1. I went for the "Lite Cable" deal which is even slower, only 3 Mbps. I'm not internet-literate enough to know what this mean - hoping that I can still stream music and YouTube videos without issue...? Anyways, so my deal is: Cost: $28/month Download Speed: 3 Mbps Gig cap: 300 Hope it works!
  2. So is that artists covering Ron Sexsmith songs? Or Ron playing the headlining slot on a mixed bill, or both? I am hoping to go to the Lee's show.. Kinda broke though. I am entered in two different contests to win tickets so fingers crossed.
  3. Nice! I recently realized that I need some new (old) Dead. Are these MP3s?
  4. I don't get this channel (or any except for CBC), but my friend Mike Stauffer made it on to this season. And from reading peoples posts on his FB today, seems that he was the first to be eliminated in last night's season kick off! Poor Mike! He is easily the most talented chef I have ever known. Wha happened?
  5. I've just gotten into this band and their 2006 release in the past 2 months. Great stuff! Where the hell was I? That song "Roscoe" gets stuck in my mind. Seems like The Acorn must have taken a lesson or two from these guys.
  6. I'd love to see The New Deal one last time in Toronto. Haven't seen this band play in 8-9 years probably!
  7. I have given my notice to Acanac and will be joining TekSavvy at the start of the month. How has it been so far Kev? Here is a basic question - what are the main factors I should be taking into account in deciding between DSL Dry Loop (which is my current set up with Acanac) or cable, besides speed? I've confirmed that TekSavvy can provide either at my address.

  13. I thought Charlotte Cornfield was great at Ottawa Folk Festival 2 years ago. Would love to see her again.
  14. That is a very solid lineup! Don't know Chris Bell though.
  15. Lift off! Any idea what time the band will take to the stage tonight?
  16. Just had to say that I am really enjoying this mix.
  17. "The download limit has been reached for this file. Please contact the sender and ask them to resend the file."
  18. Noice! Can this mix be downloaded or only streamed?
  19. Hey all, Where's everyone staying for the Detroit and Cuyahoga Falls shows in June? I'm a bit late.. Thanks, DEVO!
  20. Van Halen's Sammy Hagar says his mind was infiltrated by aliens Frontman claims 'two intelligent creatures' tapped into his unconscious using 'some kind of mysterious wireless connection' http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/mar/22/sammy-hagar-aliens-infiltratedmind There's no better way to put this: Sammy Hagar believes his mind was taken over by aliens. Years ago, before he played with Van Halen or Montrose, before he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the American singer claims extra-terrestrials tapped into his consciousness in the California foothills. "I know there's something out there," he explained, "and someday they'll come." Hagar's intergalactic theories have come to light with his new memoirs, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock, written with Joel Selvin. "I was lying in bed one night ... dreaming," he recalls in the book. "I saw a ship and two creatures inside of this ship. I couldn't see their faces. I just knew that there were two intelligent creatures, sitting up in a craft in the Lytle Creek forest area about twelve miles away in the foothills above Fontana. And they were connected to me, tapped into my mind through some kind of mysterious wireless connection." In a new interview with MTV Hive, Hagar said he wanted to write a lot more about UFOs, but Selvin "talked [him] out of it". "He'd be like, 'Aw, people don't want to hear that shit'." But Hagar "could write a whole book just devoted to [aliens]," he said. "I love it, man. I'm into it deep." Although Hagar's vision of an alien spaceship was part of a dream, he insists he was seeing something real. "[it] friggin' happened," the 63-year-old explained. "Aliens were plugged into me ... Either a download or an upload. They were tapped into my brain and the knowledge was transferred back and forth. I could see them and everything while it was happening ... Like an experiment: '[Let's] see what this guy knows'." Nor was this his first close encounter. When he was four years old, he claims, he saw something he didn't include in his book. "I saw what I considered to be, well, at the time I thought it was a car with no wheels," he said. We lived out in the country and I saw this thing floating across a field, creating this big dust storm. I threw rocks at it and shit. And I don't know what happened after that." Asked if he thinks he "blacked out", Hagar replied: "I guess. I just have no memory of it. And that wasn't a dream. It was during daylight." Hagar's current project is the supergroup Chickenfoot, with Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Pepper drummer Chad Smith.

    This Place Sucks

Maybe if each of us would post one interesting music-related thread, we can get this place back in shape. Ready, GO! I know what I'm gonna post.
  22. Oh cool! Thanks for the link rustle. This one: http://consequenceofsound.net/2011/03/ryan-adams-readies-european-tour-new-album/ says:
  23. Just wondering what the word is with Ryan Adams these days. Will these Europe shows be his first since he announced his retirement from live musical performance a few years ago? Is he still with the Cardinals? Anyways, glad to see he's coming around to playing live again. (Not that I believed it would be the end in the first place!)

    Juno Awards

Ahhhh I didn't go to it. In fact I was out for dinner and missed most of the broadcast as well. Bummed that I missed the section with The Sadies, Keelor, Cuddy, Sarah Harmer, etc etc. How was that? Great to see Neil take the stage, and I do find it pretty amusing that he won artist of the year. I was digging the audio during Arcade Fire's performance. Also amusing is the fact that Drake, who was the host, was nominated for something like 6 Junos and won none of em. There were a ton of great club shows this weekend as part of JunoFest.. But I missed all of those too.
