  1. He did Senators broadcasts too back in the mid-90s. A sad loss for the sports world. I remember Don Chevrier announcing the very first Blue Jay game. I was in grade 7 and the teachers gave students the option to watch the game on TVs set up in the lunchroom. Of course, everyone chose to watch the game instead of go to class. Thanks for passing along that tribute Kev.
  2. Awesome. People quote me even when what they have to say has nothing to do with what I said!
  3. As somebody who had 500 CDs pressed and packaged while part of a smaller band, I can attest that the 375 or so unsold CDs make great coasters long after your band has fizzled out. So everybody wins!
  4. I saw The Mars Volta opening up for the Chili Peppers back in Sept. 2006. Frusciante sat in on a couple of songs if memory serves me correctly. A month later I saw them playing at Vegoose and was so blown away that I bought all of their discs. They are a difficult listen sometimes but their song "The Widow" is basic blues and it's awesome.
  5. A friend of mine wrote this poem to promote his band "The Barking Spiders", who will be playing at the Thirsty Moose in Carleton Place on Dec. 29th. Enjoy! Just a short while ago, in a house down the street, Four fellows were rockin', and keepin' the beat. When up the kitchen, there arose such a clamor, The 4 raced upstairs, one with a hammer. And what did they see to their total dismay? But a fat, dude in red spandex who said he wanted to play! He whipped out an axe from a bag slung o'er his back, And cranked out a riff that ripped holes through my shack! I and the boys said, "Dude, we get your point." So he reached in his bag and pulled out a joint. As his eyes became glassy, and his Ho's became Huh's, He rolled up another, and I asked who the hell he was. With a giggle and snort he adjusted his toque, But nothing prepared us for his poignant rebuke. "Listen now 'cause I'll say this just once." "The name's Kris Kringle you fuckin' dunce!" With that he departed, in his eye a warm, gleam. He mounted his Harley, and as he left the scene, His engine roared but we could still hear him alright. He said,"Yeehaw! Santa was rockin' tonight!"
  6. I might add, before dinghy starts a tax revolt, that the wine and food at our Xmas parties are paid for by 50/50 draws, not the public purse.
  7. Dear work, Thanks very much for the wine and cheese party you just provided for us. I have a nice afternoon glow on and I managed to steal a wheel of brie. Awesome!
  8. Wow. I think that's first time I've ever seen that word spelled correctly on any internet message board. Very nice!
  9. ...and then came Ozzy with two former members of Quiet Riot in his band! So we've come full circle.
  10. That album was called METAL Health. It's a play on words. I hated Quiet Riot. I found them cheesy. For a lot of people, it was the first heavy metal they had ever heard (or seen, because of their exposure on MTV). Real metal bands like Sabbath and Priest were way better. In my not-so-humble opinion, of course.
  11. Rich Stadium doesn't need your micro-management.
  12. Good game. They're a pretty good matchup against Dallas. Chris Neil got in a fight with Ott right at a faceoff, Ott didn't fight back and Neil got a double minor for roughing! The Senators seem to be doing the right things defensively more often than not in this game. Vermette was awesome. Emery made some key saves in the 3rd.
  13. I shelled out the money for the pay per view.
  14. to answer Ollie's question from earlier, some Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary games are on PPV.
  15. That brings up an idea... the "Rich Stadium Job Exchange". I wouldn't mind driving a bus for a day.
  16. Dude... it's Friday. Your brother's not here.
  17. Ahh it's Friday afternoon and Davey Boy's on a roll! It's more of an Indian Head massage thing.
  18. Question for Booche: If you lived in Montreal and made money hand over fist like Ollie and I do, would you buy a ticket package for the Habs?
  19. You can hardly call the metro a newspaper! As for the "starting at $10.95", I'm assuming they mean the HD game is more expensive.
  20. At 5.3 mil/season, I don't think the Sens will want Theodore. Anyone going to shell out for the Sens PPV game tonight? "Starting at" $10.95? It is available in HD.
  21. I learned what a dreidel was from "Freeker by the Speaker" by Keller Williams: "human dreidel spinning around how do you not dizzy out and fall down is that what happens when you feel the sound but if that was me I would be on the ground"
