  1. Nice! Funny choice of an image, though.
  2. The same quotes that go around modern versions of "Guns 'n Roses" should also go around the current incarnation of "Lynyrd Skynyrd".
  3. Apparently the Stones are announcing their tour on Thursday.
  4. That certainly sounds more feasible than the Stones at Bluesfest proper.
  5. Rumoured Stones tour dates, via someone on PT who is often pretty close with these things: I think that Québec City is much more likely than Bluesfest, but the speculation is fun.Link to PT thread: http://www.phantasytour.com/bands/phish/threads/3965221/rolling-stones-to-tour?page=1
  6. Dislike. I will eat your share of the chili.
  7. Brian Wilson and Rodriguez just announced a tour that puts them in the right place at the right time, although days off are scarce. I also note that Rodriguez isn't playing the lone Canadian date, which makes me think there might be border issues: June 18 Saratoga, CA—The Mountain Winery June 19 San Diego, CA—Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay June 20 Los Angeles, CA—The Greek Theatre June 23 Austin, TX—Frank Erwin Center June 24 Dallas, TX—Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie June 26 Atlanta, GA—Fox Theatre June 27 Nashville, TN—Carl Black Chevy Woods Amphitheater June 29 Philadelphia, PA—The Mann Center for the Performing Arts June 30 Wantagh, NY—Nikon at Jones Beach Theater July 1 Holmdel, NJ—PNC Bank Arts Center July 2 Boston, MA—Blue Hills Bank Pavilion July 4 Toronto, ON—Sony Center* July 5 Detroit, MI—Fox Theatre July 6 Chicago, IL—Ravinia Festival July 8 Denver, CO—1STBANK Center July 10 Las Vegas, NV—Chelsea Theater at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas July 12 Seattle, WA—Benaroya Hall – S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium (*) Brian Wilson and band only / Rodriguez will not appear
  8. Crazy lineup. One of the guys from Greensky told me yesterday that he thinks they'll get one song. Should be quite a revolving door on that stage.
  9. I say good on ya! You're paying for the atmosphere, in a sense, but hey, it gets you in and a part of things, so party on, good sir.
  10. Nice. Maybe something for us to do with our two tiny roommates some Sunday afternoon.
  11. Please let me know where to send my envelope.
  12. Saw them in Syracuse and Cleveland a couple of weeks ago. The Syracuse show was OK, but Cleveland was the absolute heat (in the parlance of our times). Paul Hoffman, the mandolin player, came up to me afterwards and said "Now that's more like it." Indeed. "Small Axe" was an early highlight and goes way beyond the novelty of a bluegrass band covering reggae. "Don't Lie" at the end of the second set was a monster. Check it out: https://archive.org/details/gsbg2015-02-06.MilabVM-44Link.flac16 Also, there is a live hi-def webcast of their Chicago show tonight (Saturday, 2/21) starting at 10:45 EST: https://screen.yahoo.com/live/event/greensky-bluegrass
  13. Apparently (per Wikipedia) Tom Petty was only involved because George had left his guitar at Petty's house the first day they were recording at Dylan's place. George went to get his guitar and came back with Petty.
  14. Apparently he was a real fixture on the scene in NewYork City for 20-plus years. A few bands have paid tribute to him in recent days, including moe. and Yonder. A sample of his recordings:https://archive.org/search.php?query=taper%3A%22EricV%22 A Jambands.com article about him: http://www.jambands.com/news/2015/02/04/eric-vandercar-beloved-taper-dies-at-53 And another, with pics of a marquee tribute: http://www.jambands.com/news/2015/02/06/moe-dedicate-new-york-city-to-eric-vandercar
  15. I like what you're telling me, BR.
  16. My wife and I have been talking about hitting this up this year. We just need to park our 13-month-old twins somewhere for a few days. And I love seeing the Gibson Brothers in there. Definitely my favourite traditional bluegrass band.
  17. I thought it was a pretty funny column. Clearly trolling doesn't know what he's talking about, so pretty easy to laugh off.
  18. I was wondering what John Kadlicek was going to do now that Furthur has officially hung it up. I assume that he just can't waltz back into DSO, which is probably a bummer for him as I would imagine that it's a fairly lucrative operation and it's not like he has royalties or album sales to help pay the bills. Great player, though, so I look forward to hearing what he does next.
  19. I was going to say this. People love this around a camp fire, although you'll quickly learn that most people can only sing along to the chorus and the bridge. Still fun, though. Most well known Blue Rodeo songs work in the same context, with the same caveat as Wagon Wheel.
  20. Interesting. The nine-month-old twins who have taken up residence in my house have kept me from going out much lately, but they've given me a pass this Friday, and I've got plans to head out after work. This all might line up rather nicely.
  21. Great news. That first album was in very heavy rotation for me for years.
  22. Happy, merry, etc., ya big bunch of wooks.
