  1. well, given the last few weeks I been havin', DEM & I are seriously considering making the trek. Been quite a while since we had us some diesey-dog! can't wait to reconnect with some of my fav-o-rite skanks! hey ricky & DD...still looking for an opening act? Most of the mice shall be around that weekend. wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
  2. ooooh...incredibly intriguing! anybody got a dvd version to send/share with me so I can show my students? Sounds VERY thematically related to other stuff we're doing!!!
  3. now I have spoken to Y. himself twice about this in person. TWICE! I, too, yearn for those long, curly locks! I figure he's waiting to hear from an authority figure like c-towns, on the subject. c'mon, c-towns...show 'im the wetness!
  4. all's I can say is they definitely broke the mold when they made DEM. I am one lucky gal!!! but seriously, if you can't ask for (or ever hope to have) what you seek, want, want to explore, etc...then eventually you'll go outside of your relationship to find it. Vulnerability IS a wonderful thing to share. I used to LIVE by sex columnist Dan Savage when I lived in TO (can't get him often enough here in sticksville) but he has an expression called "GGG" which translates to "good, giving and game." He, of course, was always referring to sexual play, but I always figured it could apply to ANY aspect of a relationship. Basically, it's the 'golden rule'...whatever you ask/seek/want of your partner in ANY respect (sexually, emotionally, physically, mentally) be willing to offer yourself!!! /end thread hi-jack
  5. Best hip hop songs of all time. 1. Naughty By Nature - OPP 2. Biz Markie - Just a Friend 3. Weird Al Yankovic - Amish Paradise 4. De La Soul - Me Myself And I 5. Public Enemy - 911 is a Joke 6. Eric B. and Rakim - Paid in Full 12. ** **can't truly believe I'm doing this, but I close it off with Eminem's "Lose Yourself" (wanted to go with Public Enemy's "Cult of Personality", but hey, they got 3 songs on this album already!) PLEASE....if someone could actually MAKE me this 'album', you'd have my undying gratitude. (Yes, you COULD have my first born, in fact. Caveat Emptor, she is a 10 year old "Drama Queen"!)
  6. reasons why my esteem for bokonon continues to rise!!! you rock it chiquita!!! damn that I'm "taken" (and just about every night, in the Biblical sense, if I'm lucky!  ) I can only wish for you single folk the most intense sexual and marital/coupling bliss that is possible!) hey, what might be neat is a thread of "advice" from those happily hooked up. Let me start: don't be afraid to be vulnerable and ask for what you need. More importantly: GIVE and ADAPT and be willing to hear, learn and change.....
  7. what REALLY makes me cry (and fume and rage and gnash my teeth!) is that the junior school (K-8) beside us also gets locked down, and that 4 to 5 year olds are taught to hide in their cubbies!!??!! WTF!!?? I do not know what they are being told about this...but how WHACK!!! Little kids have peed their pants because they haven't been allowed out to the bathroom for over an hour during lockdown!!
  8. my stress level is higher than when giving birth!!...and for a more prolonged period of time! we have had over 10 lockdowns in 3 weeks! We have lost over 17 hours of instructional time! These lockdowns are insanely stressful: sit on the floor, in the corner, in total darkness and total silence, for over an hour...praying the that rattling door handle are the cops on their first pass through the building...and waiting, waiting, waiting to "be released" from the lockdown, trying not to squeal in panicked fright when the first thing visible through the newly-rattled-then-opened door is the cop's HUGE frikken' M16 machine gun --- or whatever the firg it is) Am I rambling?? Are my commas out of place? Forgive me, for I am a basket case. Thank god I work with an amazing staff....we are trying to take care of each other emotionally (but what about the kids??....WE ALL need counselling at this point, seriously!) I BURST into tears today (not the first time, after some recent kindness and sympathy) when at the end of the day we discovered that another school had sent EVERY member of our staff (70+ folks) a long-stemmed red rose with a note to the effect that they were with us in spirit and sympathized with the stress and uncertainties of the last few days and weeks. IT HAS TO STOP!!!!!!
  9. oh Steph & Matt...such surges of love and pride being sent your way!! can't to meet L'il Dude (sorry, Steph...I think it's stuck.) TJ is also acceptable, though. hugs 'n' kisses to all!

  11. AD...does nit-picking make you horripilate? honestly, I am just wondering and not trying to pick a fight. Y'know...I'm just saying...nit-picking seems to be your idiom. for me, that quote was FUNNY!
  12. well, it's the 5 day anniversary of me being on the wagon, but then falling off the wagon (glad I'm buzzed, or it woulda hurt!!) all hail the the hearty & hale benefits of apple cider!
  13. awesome news Tim!!! SOLIDARITY!!! D'ya think you could come into my class and talk about union issues? It's part of the curriculum, and I find most of my students have this horribly skewed idea that unions COST jobs to the "everyman." It's frightening, really, how quickly they "parrot" the conservative agenda which gets most media play on the stations they tend to listen to. I am totally serious about having you in to speak to these young'uns. I'll be in touch!!!
  14. Chris & Sara... HUGE love and congrats! You all look so awesome (cloud-nine dreamy/exhaustion looks, actually...but awesome just the same) The journey begins...make TIME for it...make TIME to enjoy it...it will be amazing and you will grow and be challenged and forever after now walk around with your heart OUTSIDE of your own body. (holy cow, there sure are some fertile folks on this board, eh!? Even I'm feeling the lure and pull of gestating another micro-human!)
  15. you have both just caused my brain to physically shift a millimeter or so...I love it when that happens...a whole new, refreshing take on things (actually a re-visitng, refreshing take on things!) Why-oh-why have we let technological progress stampede over tried-and-true methods ?? (I hate all the cliches I'm using, but I'm pretty brain dead after my school's THIRD FUCKIN' INTENSELY-STRESSFUL LOCKDOWN IN A MONTH!! What is WRONG with people!?!?!?) THERE!! now that's some 'FOCUS' for y'all
  16. yeah, I had the same thought. If we can "borrow" a few dozens llamas from the farm next door, ride 'em inta town and hitch 'em outside of Maverick's, then y'all can make yer way back to good ole OzGoode for a multi-day throw down. Sadly, even though the llamas have GPS installed and won't ever steer you wrong, I just don't see this happening in a co-ordinated way. waiting for somebunny else to step up....? oh yeah...WOOT! WOOT! Bring it ON, nero-boys!
  17. #three-frickin'-hundred!! ! Songs about, of, pertaining or alluding to desserts 1. Don McLean - American Pie 2. Marilyn Manson - Cake and Sodomy 3. Keller Williams - Cookies 4. Bob Dylan - Country Pie 5. Warrant - Cherry Pie 6. Bruce Cockburn - Mango ** 7. 8. 9. 19. 11. 12. ** okay... the caveats: FIRST, I've only ever seen mangoes eaten as dessert, so I think it stands. SECOND, this is clearly a metaphor for the only 'dessert' that really counts...see lyrics below  She's got a mango in the garden - sweet as can be She's got a mango in the garden - full of mystery She's got a mango in the garden - from the original tree She's got a mango in the garden - shares it with me Humid gleaming precious well Love to drink that water Parallel worlds when the sun goes down The atmosphere grows hotter She's got a mango in the garden - sweet as can be She's got a mango in the garden - full of mystery She's got a mango in the garden - from the original tree She's got a mango in the garden - shares it with me I slip through the glistening gate Tide began to pound Tears of light poured over me And ricocheted all around She's got a mango in the garden - sweet as can be She's got a mango in the garden - full of mystery She's got a mango in the garden - from the original tree She's got a mango in the garden - shares it with me

  20. I drank them all, so instead I propose you have a glazed ham sandwich luncheon with company associates and imbibe from your drinking water glasses. all booze for me! huzzah!
  21. please don't make me make the rules any less vague, and for gawd's sake don't make me ref I just meant words or phrases that seem oddly connected in some way. and stonie...did lassie marry you for your Dick Cheney?
  22. okay...an attempt at a game of sorts.... connect two words or phrases , or create a new pun. this one just occurred to me and I did wonder if there is any connection between being a "working stiff" and looking forward to (and in my case, often requiring) a "stiff drink" at day's end. get it? VERY loose rules, if any at all, but I do so enjoy word-play..... ...and seriously, does anyone know if there is a relation between the use of the word stiff in each case here?
  23. HAPPY BIRTHDAY and a belated wish for a great year ahead, Allison. I do so love it when you take the time to share your well-crafted thoughts with us here on those topics of some small degree of importance.
  24. As a linguist, errorious bugged me on a variety of levels, I believe, by that egregious error, you meant erroneous. I trust, also, that you know I jest and am just poking you with a sharp stick. Sharon, I'll take your freaked-out word on this one and watch it soon.
