  1. Hey Ms. Zimmy, I'd think for your needs that Jods would fit the bill. Why not send her a pm? (LJFH) We are currently with someone from Assante and doing what is called the "Smith Manoeuver" in order to pay off our mortgage lickety-split-like. This is a very cool/interesting plan whereby the equity in your home is re-invested (tax free) and the dividends applied directly to the mortgage. It's a little more complicated than that and we're paying this dude handsomely, so I think he's probably not what you're looking for. However, if you still want his contact info, send me a pm. To those skanks who DO have a mortgage, you may want to poke around online and investigate this Smith Manoeuvre yourself.

  3. best wishes sent your way, Mark. It's been a trip knowing you all these years.....thanks for being you!

  5. actually..... from: The Current for July 10, 2009 Part 2: Peak Phosphourus ...according to this dude, we're supposed to pee on our gardens!! So there, Heather, if your soil testing reveals low levels of phosphorus, you have a "built-in" solution!! (and by solution, of course, I mean the 1:5 urine/water ratio he recommends!!) listen: http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/2009/200907/20090710.html
  6. I second Finding Nemo and the animated version of The Iron Giant (Jennifer Aniston voices the mother) Really, any of the Pixar stuff is quite suberb, both visually and in terms of story line. Also, I take umbrage, as a parent of the "PG crowd", in being maligned as someone who can't take a good vibrator joke. In fact, Moms and tweens should always vibe-shop together, simply to take advantage of the rad "2-fer" discount offered, in my humble opinion.
  7. Sharon, how awesome is this: I just bought tix for Dave & Cass this morning, so I hope you guys run into each other! (I'm not 'nerdy' enough to warrant my own ticket, alas!) The dude at the box office said people dress up for the event...so keep your eyes out for a Hans Solo and Princess Amadala, both with battery-powered light sabres I might add!! (I know, I know...but don't hassle them on the impossible temporal anomalies this represents, okay ;-) )
  8. Tim, I bought the "playing cards" version of this book to lend out to my students, when you recommended it a few years ago. I've had a few students REALLY appreciate it, and want to share it with their friends. I, too, salute those who are ready to tackle the addiction....good to hear you decided to kick it, too, Joni! On a slightly tangential note, the foundling-kitty from Jen has been re-named "Smokey" and I'm trying to avoid sliding into the nickname transmutations of "Smoke-Smoke ... Smokers ... Smoker-ino ... Smoke-city... Smoke-butt" ... you get the idea :-)
  9. Oh happy birth day, Mr.m..... Enjoy being back on stage, brad!!

  12. Happy day, Dave. we're not old....well we're only as old as our hangovers make us feel! Here's the best birthday wish then: may your BD hangovers be kind to you!
  13. Happy Birthday Matt!! sorry things have been not-the-greatest for the past week, but things are looking up from here, it seems. Can't wait to see you guys this summer...I've been loving the pics of Trey I catch on FB
  14. BUT.....for a dirtier, raunchier, more jaw-droppingly blow-jobby read (still side-splitting and milk-out-the-nose funny) read Augusten Burroughs. Read some of his essays first, then read his autobiography, Running with Scissors. Avoid the movie though. these guys are 2 of my favs....I have very dog-eared copies I re-read and re-read when a) I need a non-chemical pick me up, and I need to feel within a range of "normal" ;-)
  15. Sedaris is awesome....agreed! here he reads his essay on male accessories (The Stadium Pal)
  16. enquiring minds DO want to know (that it's a "yes")
  17. bag-o/Gordo, Dave & I missed you! We saw you in the first row.... considered briefly, then decided against, throwing Dave's gitch to get your attention, then totally failed to find you at set-break or the end of the show. tres sad..... hope you enjoyed it!!
  18. happy BD Meggo...hope your week ends better than today was for ya! Have a great BD celebration!!!
