  1. Bell Centre ticketing is done through evenko. You'll be wishing that it was handled by Ticketmaster after dealing with their shite system.
  2. Here's probably the biggest difference between the Barr Bros and The Slip - they finally have a proper management and publicity team behind them.
  3. They're playing the AAA baseball stadium in Pawtucket?? That's awesome.
  4. The Corona Theatre is great venue BTW. Small old theatre, with good sight lines. I'm going to gamble that it doesn't sell out, and I can get a ticket (no fees) day of.
  5. http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/av/2012/02/album-stream-the-wooden-sky---every-child-a-daught.html
  6. new Wooden Sky album is out next week, and somehow doesn't appear to have leaked yet. 2012 stuff - Sharon Van Etten, Shearwater. I keep listening to the Grimes album trying to decide if it's brilliant pop or pure fluff. Some good hooks nonetheless.
  7. The presale for those tickets sold out in 10 minutes. I love The Avett Brothers pre sales as they are a bit more transparent than most as they announce exactly how many tix are available for each show. Regular tickets have been on sale for a few weeks through the shitty Evenko/Centre Bell ticketing system. http://www.evenko.ca/en/show/event/the-avett-brothers-5929 It doesn't look like there's a risk of it selling out anytime soon, but I think the Corona is a pretty small venue for them?
  8. They're playing Montreal in April as well. Corona Theatre.
  9. I'm pretty sure we played a gig with them at Dekcuf as the thrown-together "Skanks" lineup sometime in 2003.
  10. Brad - Is that the band from Mtl we were talking about, with Joe Grass on guitar?
  11. Buck 65 is playing the Blacksheep? That's going to be an awesome show.
  12. It's the Menahan Street Band that backs up Charles Bradley, right? If so, they're in Toronto on Feb. 11.
  13. Not to mention Andrew and Brad have been in Mtl for 7 years now. Not sure what Jaydawg's statute of limitations is on hometown claimability, but that should cover it.
  14. Brad tells that story at every single fucking Barr Brothers show.
  15. That was great. Didn't The Slip play Conan and a couple other late night shows on the Eisenhower release?
  16. Film by ol' Doolang/Patrick Swayze
  17. Yep, Carl and Dennis and the whole gang were there.
  18. I got comp tickets to see what passes for the Beach Boys at the Moncton Casino last year. It was so incredibly lame we left after 5 songs. Even with Brian WIlson, I could not recommend seeing them less.
  19. The Sandro Perri album is easily my favorite of the year, and it's not even close. I've been a fan since the second or third Sappyfest and it feels like everything finally came together for him on this recording. The Bon Iver/Fleet Foxes/Kurt Vile/War On Drugs/etc are all wallpaper albums for me. Good and inoffensive, but nothing memorable. I hesitate to put Dawes in that group because I think they're on the verge of something amazing. But there's something keeping me from being 100% sold (the odd cringe-worthy lyric maybe?) on them. Anyway, my list is something like... 1. Sandro Perri - Impossible Spaces 2. Megafaun - s/t 3. White Denim - D 4. St. Vincent - Strange Mercy I really enjoyed the Wilco, MMJ, Colin Stetson, Shabazz Palaces, Charles Bradley albums too. And there's a ton of stuff I've yet to hear from this year.
  20. Afterparty tonight is at Newtown on Crescent St.
  21. I mean, that's what CHEZ plays already, isn't it?
  22. I love that video, Jamie Shields is playing my Fender Rhodes.
