    I'm a little surprised by the news. It seemed like JSB was having a bit of a resurgence on the east coast the past couple years.

    As already suggested, a large diaphragm condenser is probably what you want. Brands like Audio Technica make models in whatever your price range is. Obviously they won't measure up to a 414, but you'll still get decent bang for your buck.

    Yep, XM Canada. My vehicle came with a free trial subscription that has never expired (knock on wood). The XM-Sirius merger has been approved in Canada, but nothing else has happened as far as I can tell.

    XM shuffled its lineup today too, but they don't seem to have merged the Sirius and XM channels at all yet.
