Christianity in this country took 1st Nations children away from their families (in the name of god) & sent them to be "saved & educated", I for one, have no interest (as a father of a Cree/Canadian) in perserving that part of our "heritage". Nor am I proud of it. [color:red][edit to add] Just to clarify, as I wrote the above after a few drinks last night, I don't fear, hate or even dismiss religion. I believe a person should embrace what gives them strength or solace. But, it should be of their own choosing, not something forced upon or expected of them. Personally, I just feel christianity's impact in our country's history has not been something overly positive, especially concerning our First Nations & Inuit people.

Why not have a few minutes silence for prayer before or after the national anthem. Leave the religious teachings to the churches & families. Personally, I think that would better serve Ontario's multiculturalism in the legislature and more importantly (in my opinion), the public school system.

When does Ottawa Bluesfest typically announce the lineup?
Esau. replied to Hartamophone's topic in Soundboard
Oops...I was listening to his 1997 show from the Horeshoe while I posted.. I guess he also came to mind after having to miss the fest back 2001 due to his car accident. -
Goes great with a few percs & some whiskey...

When does Ottawa Bluesfest typically announce the lineup?
Esau. replied to Hartamophone's topic in Soundboard
I realize some of these artists have already played the fest before, but for some its been awhile & if they added all these cats to the lineup, nothing could stop me from going.. Bluesfest wishlist: Coco Montoya Roy Rogers Tinsley Ellis RL Burnside Willie "Big Eyes" Smith Otis Clay Deborah Coleman Studebaker John and the Hawks Long shot wild-card pick: The great Otis Rush! I heard rumor he has played some shows since his stroke in 2004. I doubt he'd want to make the trip up here now-a-days, but I can still wish... Anyone else would be the gravy to me. -
Nothing, as long as the elections are soley conducted by the Cuban people & goverment with zero US involvement. But as Bush has already stated: Hopefully these "blessings of liberty" aren't the same he brought to Iraq.

I could list a whole bunch, as I'm sure Newrider can, but I'll start with a local show. http://www.archive.org/details/dbt2006-10-17.CK93.SBD.shnf I'm still working on my DVD of this show, it was my first video recording and has been a lot more work then I first anticipated. This is the source I'm syncing the video with. Also, check out just about any show from 'The Dirt Underneath Tour' from last year, sweet acoustic goodness.

I'm pretty sure all the circulating footage is up on youtube, but even with the poor video quality (for a pro-shot) the DVD is worth searching out. This is the artwork for the DVD, http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/9408/gratefuldead19700830kqeyd0.jpg I'm still looking for a copy, mine was passed off in a trade as a DVD when in fact it was a VCD converted to DVD and has crappy mp3 audio files. Argh, never trade with people from the lossless legs site...

I can understand (but not necessarily agree with) some of his points actually, personally after about 10 minutes on there I lose all interest in the site. Although, I'm still confused when people say they are "addicted" to facebook, I just don't see how there is that much to keep someone interested to that point, with myspace I sorta could understand, since there is a countless number of bands on there for you to discover & listen to. I have reconnected with some HS friends on facebook who honestly thought/heard I had died from my cancer ordeal years ago, so in that, I feel it was worth joining the site, if only to squash that rumor. But after a couple days of catching up, we're back to where we were before I joined.

Thanks Kev, I only have the next night. This will hold me over until DVDs of both nights I traded for show up.
