  1. The workshops are a very cool part of Hillside, especially when the artists click and magic happens. That certainly was a fun set dancing in the sand at Nelson Ledges! He was playing with The Greyboy Allstars for that show. His band is also very groovy and will have people shaking their bones. Peace, Mark
  2. Looking forward to some Good Friday night fun at the Lanc! Peace, Mark
  3. I definitely care about this ... I'm a big Karl Denson fan! He's a great player and his band is uber-groovy! And not too long ago I came across a cool picture of Karl Denson that somebody gave me for my birthday almost 7 years ago. If I am in Ontario for the Hillside weekend I will definitely be going. Thanks for sharing the news! Peace, Mark
  4. Are the weekly gigs in Guelph and Waterloo now done? Thumbs down to me for not making it to any of these! Peace, Mark
  5. Yeah, if you don't try it ... look out! And if you do try it ... you'd better like it!
  6. Exciting news ... congratulations Must Stash Hat! Enjoy ... it's a beautiful venue! I am sure that people at the Ledges will like what you do! Peace, Mark
  7. I agree. And I told myself that I wouldn't miss him the next time he came around. But I can't justify the ticket price for that show in that venue. If it was at Massey Hall or at Shea's in Buffalo, yes. I think I'm going to pass on this one, at least for now. Peace, Mark
  8. This is SOOOO tempting with both RRE and Cornmeal on the bill. And with the possibility of a dance-off on the beach! But I am still leaning toward taking a Phishing trip. Having said that, no firm decisions have been made yet ... I still need to see what the plan is for the rest of my family and a few other friends before making summer festival plans ... Peace, Mark
  9. I saw this in the local LCBO and sampled it last night for the first time. SO effing tasty is right! My new favourite beer! Peace, Mark
  10. Tempting for sure, and even more so now that RRE has been added to the lineup. Having said that, I'm still waiting to see what else unfolds before making any firm decisions ... Peace, Mark
  11. When asked about playing a second set, they said something about the contract only calling for one set. They said they'd be playing a two set show the next night, and that they play 3 set shows sometimes. It just seemed odd to me for them to be done when they were done, given that the room was packed, the audience was craving more, and there was no other band following them. It appeared to be a good opportunity for the band to really impress. But I can appreciate that there were likely other factors at work that I was unaware of. Peace, Mark
  12. Made a last minute decision to catch these guys on Friday night in Hamilton, and arrived 4 or 5 songs into their one and only set. I really enjoyed what I heard ... lots of songs and riffs that reminded of the Allmans, and solid vocals. But I was surprised and disappointed when they finished and did not play another set, given that it was before 1 am when they finished, and no band followed them. Strange. I'd go to see them again, and would love to hear them play a full two-set show. Thanks to mousepad for twisting my arm to go and for getting me to and from the show! Peace, Mark P.S. Thanks for posting the video clips Esau. The guy video taping was standing right next to me for that second video.
  13. Nice ... Burt is playing a show in Waterloo! Damn ... wish I was going to be in town when it happened! Peace, Mark
  14. Thanks for posting this trailer - I look forward to seeing this movie. Peace, Mark
  15. Did Sam Cino used to drum with this band? Does he still? He's a cool drummer! Peace, Mark
  16. Ok, now I get it ... the writeup on the CBC site! Still listening to Five Alive and diggin' it! Peace, Mark
  17. I've had the pleasure of hearing two members Moonshiner's Daughter play at various times in the past few years, but I've never seen this band. I wish I could be at the Commercial Tavern for this afternoon show, but I will be on a bus to Toronto with a bunch of high school kids. It's been years since I've been inside the Commercial Tavern! Peace, Mark
  18. Me too! Listening to Colleen Cabbage Soup via the CBC site as I type this. I'm guessing this relates to a road trip from the past? Peace, Mark
  19. I've had the Burt Neilson Band disc By The Door stuck in my car cd player for the past week, and have been thoroughly enjoying it. This morning I decided to google it just to see what came up and I came across this review written by Shain Shapiro in 2004 and posted on Jambase. BNB By The Door article Well said, Shain. I'm not sure what the possibilites are, but here's hoping for more than just the occasional BNB show in the future. Peace, Mark
  20. yes' date=' seeing it live. kingswood, friday, august 12, 1983. [/quote'] That was one of my favourite concerts ever. Everybody was dancing ... even my friends who never dance. Peace, Mark
