  11. Coach for the chop? Last month, The Guardian reports, the players on North Korea's World Cup soccer team (three losses, no wins) "were summoned to an auditorium of the working people's culture palace in Pyongyang, forced onstage and subjected to a six-hour barrage of criticism for their poor performance in South Africa, according to the U.S.-based Radio Free Asia. . . . The 'grand debate' was reportedly witnessed by 400 athletes and sports students, and the country's sports minister, Ri Dong-kyu, a sports commentator for the North's state-run Korean Central TV, led the reprimands, pointing out the shortcomings of each player, South Korean media said. In true Stalinist style, the players were then 'invited' to mount verbal attacks on their coach, Jung-hun. The coach was reportedly accused of betraying the leader's son, Kim Jong-un, who is expected to take over from his ailing father as leader of the world's only communist dynasty. Radio Free Asia quoted the source as saying he had heard that Kim Jung-hun had been sent to work on a building site and there were fears for his safety." Paul's next gigs "World Cup oracle Paul the Octopus is poised for a new career - as an Elvis Presley impersonator," Orange News UK reports. "The psychic sea creature became a global star after 'predicting' the correct outcome of all Germany's matches in South Africa. . . . Now he is to be turned into an Elvis Presley tribute act by his new agent, Chris Davies, from Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire. 'One of the most exciting things is that he has a record deal in place for an album, called Paul the Octopus Sings Elvis,' said Mr. Davies. 'There are books being written, a range of octopus toys are coming out this Christmas and there's even a new iPhone app.'"

  16. Tariff #3 in particular looks like it could complicate things for owners of cabarets, cafes, clubs, cocktail bars, dining rooms, lounges, restaurants, roadhouses, taverns and similar establishments. My question is whether or not it will discourage live music in small venues? Perhaps there are various hoops already in place that don't impact the *scene* and this'll just be a slightly different process dig it http://canadagazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2010/2010-07-31/html/sup1-eng.html

  19. Believe it or not, there are many people who make decent side money from winning sweepstakes and contests. Some people who devote enough time entering contests can actually make this their primary source of income! Whether the prizes are cash or products, your winnings can help you pay off bills or build up savings. Here's how to get started. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need: free yahoo or gmail email account PO Box ebay account spare time Step 1 Set up a free email account to keep your sweepstakes correspondence separate from your other business and personal accounts. Receiving more spam is a side effect of entering contests. You may also want to consider renting a separate PO box to contain all the junk mail you're about to get! Step 2 Use internet search engines to find contests online. Google key words and phrases such as "sweepstakes," "enter to win," "no purchase necessary," "promotional giveaway," and "contest" to find sources of prizes. The more you enter, the higher your chances of winning, so make sure to enter many many contests! Step 3 Don't forget to enter contests whose prizes are not cash. If you win a product, you can sell it on ebay or amazon for good money, especially if it is a new item. Step 4 You have a better chance of winning a more obscure contest than a well known one, say Publisher's Clearing House for example. Also read the fine print to make sure no purchase or other obligation is required. You want to make money, not spend it. Step 5 Look for promotional giveaways that offer products or free samples without a contest. If you collect 10-15 free samples of a similar product, cosmetics for example, you can sell the bundle of samples on ebay for $$. Step 6 Besides finding sweepstakes and contests online, you can often find offers and prize drawings in grocery stores, malls, and fairs. Fill out all the cards you see, especially the ones for big ticket items. Think of what you could do if you won a new car or dream vacation. Remember, if you don't have a use for the items you win, you can sell them. Step 7 Another source of prizes is radio contests. If you have a radio station in your area that does a lot of drawings, give them a call between filling out forms. Step 8 Remember that many contests are just an attempt to collect names and addresses, that's why it's important to have a separate email and PO box. Don't give out any personal info besides your first and last name, email, and PO box address. Avoid giving your phone number if you can, or use your work phone. When you win, you will most likely be contacted by email or mail.
