  1. I knew this would be the one for you. Amy rocks, don't you think? Congratulations Brah... now if only the rest of us lot at 1017 could get work!
  2. So I missed the boat on my Mexico trip today (so to speak) and am feeling a bit cold here in Toronto. Livingstoned and I are pooling resources and figure we can manage a week somewhere hot, if any of you kind folk can help us locate a dealio on flights leaving Monday. Cum-on, help a couple sister's out Cheers! P.S. Thanks for all the heady vibes folks... right back at ya!
  3. I [color:red]Love (and miss) so many of you in this community and just wanted to pass the news along, in case any of you are feeling as low as I am today. I think I might head downtown this afternoon and hand out some random treats to try and raise my spirits. If that doesn't work, then I guess I'll just imbibe some spirits instead. Warm thoughts to all of you. Cheers, Margaret “Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won't adhere to any rules. The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice. Instead of vowing to honor and obey, maybe we should swear to aid and abet. That would mean that security is out of the question. The words "make" and "stay" become inappropriate. My love for you has no strings attached. I love you for free.†- Tom Robbins
  4. Livingstoned seems in a little better form now... amazing what an executive lunch, followed by a somewhat informal late afternoon planning session, can accomplish insofar as physiological remedies. Ass massage or no, I believe our fallen friend is feeling pretty good right now.
  5. Thanks for all the tips kids Keep 'em coming.
  6. From a street-performing friend of mine in The New Kings: Dear civic-minded artists, activists, musicians, performers, and cultural revolutionary types. We've been invited to come to Halifax to be part of the Make Great Streets Conference at Dalhousie and were hoping to get into a little street action ruckus while we're there. Does anybody in Halifax like to party? How about in the cold winter streets? We are a group called Streets are for People! We are based out of Kensington Market in Toronto. What we do is find fun ways to take public space away from cars and give it back to the community. We worked with our neighbourhood to hold a festival called PS Kensington in which for seven Sundays of the year, the streets are closed to cars and open to people. Bands play, artists paint, dancers dance, and childrem run and laugh and play games, all in the space usually taken by pollution-belching automobiles. We are working with a Halifax group called TRAX to bring the same type of thing to a neighbourhood there. But we need help to find the right area. Here's what we’re thinking: Where’s a neighbourhood that has a good sense of local community, maybe home to students and artists, a street lined with mom&pop shops instead of corporate chain stores? As part of the conference we’ll go to that neighbourhood and consult with the residents and merchants, see if there’s any interest. We'll also do a presentation on these type of events at the conference. That’s all on Thursday Feb. 8. Then on Friday Feb. 9 we’ll give them a little taste of what we’re talking about with a Parking-Meter Party. That’s where you come in. For a pocket full of change you can reclaim a 6’x12’ patch of concrete and do with it what you will: paint a picture, play music, play badminton, (there’s one idea to get three spots in a row and make a curling rink, another to build a car out of snow and plant a tree in the roof.) All you have to do is pay the meter and park a vehicle, ie. A bike or a trike or a skateboard, given that it’s winter, a toboggan should count too. It’s fun and it’s legal. Oh and we can’t forget, the ReEvolution Day Arkestra. This is a giant street band. All musicians of all skill levels are invited out to join the band and turn the street into a dance hall. Please spread the word or help us contact drum bands, horn bands, school bands, indie bands, any and all are welcome. We, there’s four of us coming, Kelsey, Shamez, Michael and Graham, we are arriving by train on Tuesday evening. We’re planning to meet any interested folks on Tuesday evening, after 9pm at a bar called the Economy Shoe Shop. Come have a beer and brain storm about the action/party. Looking forward to some of that famous Halifax culture, Michael Louis Johnson Ps, How are the roads? We were thinking of bringing our bikes, but I understand there are lots of hills in Halifax. Does anybody have a bike-trailer or two we could borrow while in town. 9. Hmmm, it would certainly give me somewhere to showcase my assortment of cougar-belia. All those middle-aged housewives would surely appreciate My decision to babysit the nephews really hurt the most when Del called me on Saturday, a half hour outside of K-dub, and I was stuck in Newmarket, listening to a belching contest over a bucket of chicken with no chance of escape in sight. Actually, I think that's the same thing that happened the last time I was in Kitchener, trying to get back out. Never mind
  10. Shiza! I used to get pneumonia every year as a kid... I was once out for a whole month. Knowing Mike's disposition, he should be back in action within the week. Sorry to hear about the Alberta dates but not if it means your health! Get well soon big guy!
  11. OK folks, I'm finally buckling down and starting to apply for some jobs this week. So far, things are not looking as golden as I might have hoped. I'm hard-working, motivated and I can smoke a mean pole. Hee-hee. Seriously though, if anyone knows of any opportunities that might (or might not) include corporate services in a creative capacity such as communications and/or events planning, please let me know. I'm also up for change and would love to travel and/or find something with a charity or NGO. I hope you'll enlighten me if you're aware of any fabulous international or domestic opportunities. Thanks so much kids... I hope you all had fun in Kitchener last weekend (I was babysitting if you can believe it!) Cheers, Margaret

  20. January 18th it is. Not sure how "open" the stage will be at Jay's show, but there is definitely a Gypsy-Jam reunion in the works before hand at 1017 (The Trane is across the street). I'm thinking a potluck BBQ/Caleigh will be just the thing to bring back that warm, communal vibe that was ours for so many Mondays past. All are welcome, please send me a PM for details.
