  3. Urban Preacher, 2009-04-01, The Rainbow Bistro, Ottawa, ON. If anyone remembers Hiway Freeker, Urban Preacher is very close to what they were, with the addition of a baritone sax. Aloha, Brad

    Arcade Fire?

Don't. Wayne Coyne of the Lips said some pretty nasty things about Arcade Fire recently: http://stereogum.com/archives/wheres-the-beef/wayne-coyne-tears-arcade-fire-a-new-asshole_056431.html Arcade Fire responded soon after that: http://stereogum.com/archives/wheres-the-beef/flaming-lips-vs-arcade-fire-round-2-win-butler-str_056571.html Aloha, Brad
  5. One thing I've heard is to make sure you don't give/use your first piss of the day for your test, as it's been sitting around in your system all night, absorbing stuff. It's better to get that out of the way (so to speak) at home, then drink water the morning/day of the test to give them something fresh. (I haven't seen any studies or numbers on this, so can't really vouch for whether it'll work.) Aloha, Brad
  6. The Thursday, April 2, 2009, show by Inglewood Jack at The New Bayou Jazz And Blues Club in Ottawa, ON is now available for download: http://www.archive.org/details/ingjack2009-04-02.superlux.flac16 Enjoy! Aloha, Brad
  7. One of the columnists at Salon.com has prepared a report titled Drug Decriminalization in Portugal: Lessons for Creating Fair and Successful Drug Policies, on what's gone on in Portugal in the seven years since they decriminalized all drugs (including cocaine and heroin) in 2001. Aloha, Brad
  8. You just got challenged. You just got inspired. Your goal in life from now on should be to make squeezable bacon a reality. Aloha, Brad
  9. That recording is now on the Live Music Archive: http://www.archive.org/details/um2009-03-28.mk41.flac16 Aloha, Brad
  10. Bump for the second dose tonight. Note that we're on pertty early, with a 7pm scheduled start time for our set. Aloha, Brad

  12. Thanks, everybody. I hope to see some of you through this weekend; I'm feeling like partying seriously down. Aloha, Brad
  13. Try it. I'll probably stand there for a while, playing but mystified as to why I'm not hearing myself, then go all batshiat crazee, I mean, total freakin' meltdown, on the sound engineer, demanding that I be heard more in the monitors. Aloha, Brad

    Whoppers.

Those are all Americans. Do you have any examples of left-handed people who have done well in our Canadian society? Aloha, Brad

    WHISKY!!

Tonight, I poured the last around-an-ounce-left of the half bottle of the 1968 Bruichladdich Cask Strength (52.6% alcohol/volume) I had left, a Gordon & MacPhail bottling I bought at a whisky shop in a shopping mall in Edinburgh, on a week's vacation there after a business trip to the UK. It burns like fire going down, like the bizarre love child of a VSOP cognac and nicely harsh Isaly whisky. Aloha, Brad
  18. I found one for the third of the three shows: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=523853 Aloha, Brad
  19. Happy Day, M! Aloha, Brad
  20. We're on third, so the main goal of the rest of the members of IJ will be to keep me sober enough to play the show and record the show (probably two different ways). Note, however, that I've arbitrarily assumed the authority to extend the celebration of my birth across more than a week: I started last Friday at Mr. Something Something, and will kick it up several notches tomorrow night, with anything that survives the Rainbow available for further notch-kicking at the Bayou on Thursday, then maybe a nice dinner on Friday (location TBD), and then Lauzon @ Dekcuf on Saturday. It's on, people; bring it. Aloha, Brad

  22. After one day over two years away from the stage (except for an in-studio performance on CKCU-FM in January), the band I'm in, Inglewood Jack, will be doing two gigs this week. The first is Wednesday, April 1, at The Rainbow Bistro. We'll be on last, probably starting around midnight or so. The second is Thursday, April 2, at The New Bayou Jazz And Blues Club, when we'll start early, around 7pm, opening up for Peter Liu And The Jazz Mutants, in their monthly "Jazz Evolution" night. We're really excited about getting back to performing. In the time away from the stage, we've been composing, recording, and rehearsing, and feel we're at the strongest we've been. If you're in Ottawa and can make it to either or both of the gigs, we promise to do our best to funk your socks off. If you're planning on not wearing socks, let us know, and we might be able to hook you up at the gig. Aloha, Brad
  23. Congratulations, Stu! Aloha, Brad
