  1. You want to fight? OK, here goes: I think you meant this topic to be called "FIGHT ME (politics edition)!!!" rather than "addition", unless you meant this topic represented you making the addition of the politics forum to the fora you haunt. Aloha, Brad
  2. There's also http://www.sliplive.com/ Aloha, Brad
  3. Sweet! I was afraid I wouldn't know any other tapers there, and I've never seen Gov't Mule before, so being alone and ignorant might make for a less-than-fun night. I just ordered my ticket. See you (all) there! Aloha, Brad
  4. I just heard back from the venue, who said that the show's recording policy was established by the promoter, and that I should contact them. I did, so we'll see how it goes. (I have this deep-seated fear that there's a big crack between what the promoter will say and what [i.e., nothing] will be told to the venue's security people.) Aloha, Brad
  5. OK, I just sent a message to their general e-mail address, their security manager, and the club manager. I also found http://www.mule.net/legal_policies.html which claims there'll be a roped-off section for tapers on this tour, and that the first half-hour of door time is for tapers only. I asked if this was the case, and if I'd have any problems bringing in my gear and a mic stand. Aloha, Brad
  6. Thanks, phishtaper. Would it be useful to contact the venue ahead of time to clear bringing in gear and a stand? (I figure that if I get an e-mail with approval and a name, I can at least point that out to any security personnel if there are hassles.) Aloha, Brad
  7. Brad I'm surprised. I think you'll like them. This is largely due to them not being part of the Live Music Archive; I generally don't download bittorrented shows to listen to (as my hard drive at home is pretty full). I've known of them for a while now' date=' and seen Warren Haynes a few times (with Phil Lesh and The Dead), and liked what I heard (even if my attention was more on Jimmy Herring ). Thank you! Were you there? Did you see open taping? I've found about 10 Kool Haus shows (e.g., by The New Deal, and The Decemberists) on the Live Music Archive, so I figure I'll be OK getting my rig in, but if there was open taping last year, I know I won't have a problem this year. Aloha, Brad
  8. Happy Day, L-J! Aloha, Brad
  9. It looks like I'll be coming down for the Dec. 1 show at Kool Haus. (I was originally going to come down just for Mr. Something Something @ Gypso Co-op on Saturday, Dec. 2, but then I found about Gov't Mule, and then phorbesie offered up her extra for The Who on Monday, Dec. 4, which'll also mean I can see Sisters Euclid at The Orbit Room after The Who. "Anything worth doing is worth overdoing. Nothing exceeds like excess.") I've never listened to Gov't Mule before, but I downloaded gm2006-11-14 for a taste of their recent stuff. Assuming I'm there, I may record it (I'll have my big rig to record Mr.SS). Aloha, Brad
  10. I can't remember which one I'm using, but I found http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=143614 Aloha, Brad
  11. Preferably not mine' date=' but I'm not too picky. [/quote'] How about the content(s) of the vomit? Colour? Texture? Aloha, Brad
  12. For a brief scary second, I thought this had some weird connection to Sisters Euclid. Aloha, Brad
  13. Now that I'm going to The Who @ ACC in Toronto on Monday, Dec. 4 (thanks, phorbesie!), that'll make it possible to see Sisters Euclid @ The Orbit Room afterwards. I'd really like to get a (decent) hotel within stumbling distance (or a cheap cab ride) from The Orbit Room (and if it was on the way from the ACC to The Orbit Room, so much the better), but I can't seem to find much. (The Grange Hotel and The Alexandra Hotel are close, but have received bad reviews; I found a Travelodge on King St. W., but that's a bit out of the way.) Does anybody have and recommendations / hints / suggestions? Aloha, Brad

What about the people handing him business cards? Aloha, Brad
  15. I was gonna suggest he thought he was Mel Gibson (or was paid by Mel Gibson, to take some of the heat off of him). Did Lenny Bruce ever hurl insults at the audience that way? (I could believe Bruce would have done a bit about the use of "N"-word, but I don't think he would have used it against anybody.) Aloha, Brad

I taped it, and it sounds pretty good; I'll be giving it a full listen tomorrow at the office. Mike's not (yet) part of the Live Music Archive, so for now, all I'm going to do is get a copy back to him. If/when he gives me the OK to give it out to people, I'll work on distributing it. Aloha, Brad

Let's assume I had an ornate piece of glassware that, when filled with water, functioned as a pipe through which tobacco (or other materials) could be smoked. Does the water have to be boiled first to be safe? Aloha, Brad

I'd head straight to the beer store (does BC have the equivalent of Ontario's Beer Stores and LCBO stores?) and stock up, making sure to get a wide range of brands/styles, as I really don't know which one would work best with Colgate Total toothpaste... Aloha, Brad
