bradm
I've got Phish 1998-07-06 on right now. The transitions (from "Ghost" into "Cities" in the first set, and "Piper" into "Makisupa Policeman" in the second set) are mind-altering, to my ears. Dr_Evil_Mouse
Bill Frisell - Nashville There's a fine album. Learned just last week that that first vocal track (One of These Days) is a Neil Young tune. Shame on me....
mark tonin
David Live - David Bowie at the Tower Philadelphia (1974) I used to have this on vinyl years ago and saw it on cd in the public library the other day so I borrowed it. Classic Bowie songs played live, with a full (10 piece?)band. Some full-on rockin' jams as well, including an 8+ minute version of Width of a Circle (not sure if that one is on a studio album at all). Some tasty rock guitar work by Earl Slick. I get bored with some of the songs because I overplayed them years ago, but still an enjoyable listen. Peace, Mark

hamilton
David Live - David Bowie at the Tower Philadelphia (1974) Am interesting album, although I haven't heard it in many years. That was a strange and fascinating tour for Bowie, as he made the leap from the Thin White Duke to the whole "Philly soul" sound mid-tour - including overhauling his entire touring band. Some full-on rockin' jams as well, including an 8+ minute version of Width of a Circle (not sure if that one is on a studio album at all). "Width of a Circle" is the opening track on The Man Who Sold The World, if I recall correctly.

mark tonin
Thanks for the Bowie info Hamilton ... it got me to do a bit more reading about the tour. This was some of the interesting info I found about the 1974 Live album: "The Tower Theatre shows on 14 and 15 July were nearly cancelled at the last moment when Bowie's backing band, after hearing the news that the shows were to be recorded for an LP, refused to play without an increased fee in line with the normal recording rates. The normal show fee of $150 for a member of the group was increased to $5,000 after Bowie relented." Peace, Mark
