Guest Low Roller
- Miles Davis- John Mellancamp- Blondie- Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five- Cat Stevens- The Patti Smith Group- Sex Pistols- The Stooges- Lynard Skynard- Black Sabbath- Dave Clark Five- J. Geils Band- Chic- Joe Tex- Sir Douglas QuintetVoting results will be announced at the ceremonies on December 21st.I'm shocked that Lynard Skynard, Black Sabbath, and Sex Pistols weren't in the Hall of Fame already.Miles Davis was a jazz pioneer and Grandmaster Flash was the first hip-hop artist, both will tax the voters perception of who is worthy of being in the "rock 'n roll" hall of fame. Jaimoe
A pretty good list. Patti Smith deserves to be in the Hall. It would be great to see reamining Stooges back together for the award ceremony - if they get in.
AdamH
I'm surprised that some of these people weren't in ther already.I'd probably pass on blondie and sure as shit would pass on mellencamp.
Super Freak
J. Giles Band? Are they seriously on this list? I think I'm losing faith in humanity. My blood runs cold...my memory has just been sold.

Hal Johnson
Can you bet on this somewhere? Cuz Id bet the farm on about five of those bands. How many make it anyway?Actually, if its up to "voters," then who really knows; people are wierd.
StoneMtn
Am I the only one wondering exactly when Miles Davis became one of the greats of rock 'n' roll?Don't get me wrong. I love Miles, but rock 'n' roll? C'mon!
hamilton
I'm shocked that Lynard Skynard, Black Sabbath, and Sex Pistols weren't in the Hall of Fame already.Apparently, John Lydon and Ozzy have claimed that they would refuse induction if nominated.Who can blame them? A Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame isn't very rock 'n' roll, after all. I wonder why the human race is so concerned with ranking just about anything it can. StoneMtn
Good for John Lydon! In case anyone wonders whatever happened to Mr. Rotten, I currently listen to his release (circa 2002) called "Psycho's Path" regularly.I highly recommend checking it out. It's like P.I.L. on steroids. The guy is still relevant.(Oh ya; good for Ozzy too, of course. The name of my first born I tell ya...) d_rawk
Just a note: that K-Dub sellout in the kayak makes a sour face every time I put on The Stooges. Funny pic, maybe, but not R'n'R hall of fame material.IMHO.

boogieknight
I mean if we are talking rock n roll then Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Sabbath should have been inducted long ago.
Jaimoe
If Skynyrd makes it in the Hall, let's hope Roller has nothing to do with the spelling on their plaque.Pronounced ( and spelled ): Lynyrd Skynyrd
secondtube
mellencamp and sabbath are the two i think belong in there....and even with my deep hatrid for them, i 'guess' Lynyrd Skynyrd should be in there as well....Gimme Three Steps IS a pretty cool song. Jaimoe
Patti Smith should get in due to her continued influence on female rockers and socio-politcal lyricists. Plus, she's balls to the wall rock & roll to the core.

bald guy in a blanket
I don't know if Miles Davis should be in the hall---but he did change Rock 'n Roll forever...From "A Kind of Blue" to "Bitches Brew" to "A Tribute to Jack Johnson" he sort of invented the kind of "rock" music that most of us call Jam....and as far as Mellencamp, like him or not, he embodies the American rock'n roll dream...he's lived it and added to it...and sold like a bazillion records. He has to be in there.Jef P.S.-I have to also admit that a real cute girl once dragged me to a Mellencamp show and I was suprised to know every song and dig his band. Kenny Aranoff is a motherfucker drummer.
