Bronson Centre is renowned for being boiling hot when full of people, hope some doors are left open or something. Outremont Theatre is in an awesome part of town and is pretty cool.

Good work bringing him back up here.

I'd be willing (though possibly not able; my schedule for that chunk of March hasn't been fully nailed down yet) to come out and try and record the performance. Would a soundboard feed be possible? I checked on archive.org, and some of the Franti shows are from the board, so it looks like he allows it.

Aloha,

Brad

[color:purple]I was under the impression Michael wasn't a big fan of Babylon, at least according to his song "Life Saver".

Hello earth children

This is your mama calling here

You ain't been listening so I

Thought I'd make myself more clear

Its been a long hard road

That Babylon beat you down with despair

Now I see you're tired

I still need your help down there

"Meh" is an opinion?

The implication of your one-word "opinion" is that those interested in this show should re-think that, which will obviously cause some people to be reluctant to post that they are going to attend the show. It may also discourage others from attending who are interested. I don't see why a person would do that.

Clearly people here, including me, enjoy Michael Franti live. Presumably you have also seen him, and you don't enjoy his shows. If so, why post anything in a thread that is only announcing his shows?

I have no idea what he's like as a person. I've never met him.

As far as making fun of people, why in the world would someone do that with regard to a musician right in a thread dedicated to inviting people out to that musician's show? It is disrespectful to the promoter who posted the info and disrespectful to those who are showing interest in the show. Why ruin things for others?

It's also obviously disrespectful to the musician, himself, who is trying to make a living. This is particularly offensive in the case that the musician is a good person, as you suggested. People should respect his right to work at his chosen profession. Why expend effort only to put up obstacles for him? That's just mean.

Further, if someone has actual criticism, there is a place for it. Start a thread, for instance. It should not be done by hijacking a thread posted by someone who is spending his own time, energy, and probably risking money to put on a show. That's just rude.

I also think that "criticism" usually involves some sort of comment. "Meh" is akin to childish name-calling. As a matter of fact, so is simply saying something "stinks". Comments like that are simply made as put-downs. They are not criticism.
