Booche
The Habs sent defenceman Craig Rivet and a future fifth-round pick to the San Jose Sharks for defenceman Josh Gorges and a first-round pick in this year's draft.
Guest Low Roller
And so it begins. Gainey had no choice but to keep Souray. He's the only guy that's consistently scoring, and the Habs best hope for the playoffs.
Booche
I think letting Rivet go shows that Gainey was never planning to sign him in the off-season so he got something in return and now plans on making a summer move to keep Souray. Watch this one. He is going to get grossly over-paid. Brian McCabe version 2.
SevenSeasJim
I thought Pavel Kubina was McCabe Version 2.
Kanada Kev
I thought Pavel Kubina was McCabe Version 2. LOL ... at least Kubina started to produce a little something in the last couple of weeks (too bad he's injured now).Looking forward to the game tonight. Hope it's a good one! SevenSeasJim
Actually I don't mind Kubina, he's just overpaid.I'd be happy if he was paid 2.5/3 million instead of 5 million
dave-O
Could Aebischer have looked any worse last night?Oh wait, yes. He could have looked as bad as Raycroft.
Guest Low Roller
Crap... So what do the Habs do now? Go with Halak as #1, or trade up for a better goalie after clearing some cap space for themselves?
peipunk
Aebischer looked horrendous last night. How about Souray's laser, that was awesome.

Guest Low Roller
Habs picked up Leighton (G) off of waivers from Philly! Is Aebischer on his way out?? Is Halak going back to Hamilton??
Guest Low Roller
The Habs have assigned Aaron Downey to the Bulldogs, and have recalled Andrei Kostitsyn for what seems to be a permanent spot on the roster (finally).Leighton will most likely be assigned to Hamilton, or even Cincinnati. Booche
The Habs had legs during the first 2 periods of the Laughs game and the first period of tonight's game against the Rangers along with 5 minutes or so at the start of the second. Let me tell you Roller, did the wheels ever fall off during those oddish periods. When they are bad, they are 2006 Raider-esque bad.I think they are dead in the water if they cant find some juice. Guest Low Roller
From Hockey's Future:Missing the CutCameron Cepek, D, 19 (7th round, 199th overall, 2006) - Can't seem to shake the injury bug. Boom or bust late-round flyer may be too brittle.Duncan Milroy, RW, 24 (2nd round, 37th overall, 2001) - Finally, the light switched on. A revelation in his fourth season. AHL totals of 52 points in 52 games leads team, earns first-ever call-up to the big club.Corey Locke, C, 22 (4th round, 113th overall, 2003) - Endless supply of talent, lacks the intangibles to put it together. Should be dominant, but 37 points in 58 games indicates he still isn't getting it.

Guest Low Roller
Latendresse, Lapierre, Lemieux, Aubin, Danis, and Carle are all Quebecers (6), additionally Chipchura, D'Agostini, Maxwell, White, Price, and O'Byrne are from other parts of Canada (6), which brings the Canadian content to 12 out of 20. There are 7 European prospects, and only one American prospect.
