Marky
The High Life Festival will touch down this summer at the Docks Entertainment Complex on Sunday July 1st. This single day celebration of music and culture will be a high energy event featuring live music, exhibitors, arts vendors, food and drink stations in addition to the many activities that the Docks has to offer. The festival aims to quench the thirsts of the musical aficionado, offering a diversified line-up of both international and local talent. We are proud to announce that our headliner for 2007 is Nigerian Afrobeat legend FEMI KUTI & POSITIVE FORCE. Supporting the show will be SOULIVE, WASSABI COLLECTIVE, LAL, REBEL EMERGENCY, THE IRIE BAND as well as some additional acts to be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for the festival are affordably priced at $35 plus applicable service charges. Tickets go on-sale April 28 at 10am and are available through all Ticketmaster outlets as well as online at Ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 416.870.8000. Tickets are also available at Rotate This, Soundscapes and Sonic Temple. Doors open to the public at 1pm with music starting at 2pm. Exact set times will be posted closer to the show. mister slippery
does Femi really count as a legend, though?he certainly is the son of a legend, no doubt, and he is a great musician with nice chops, but a legend? wouldnt have thought so.still, this looks like a show im gonna enjoy. Jay Funk Dawg
oh yes Femi is a legend... He was in his father's band for many years, and kept the band going when Fela went to prison. He has continued to carry-on the Afro-beat movement many years after his father's death. If you've ever seen him perform, you will know that his band & their energy is a must see. Femi continues to travel the world, spreading his message of "power to the people" and isn't afraid to challege or criticize his audience. He is the true heir to the Afrobeat throne! THIS SHOW IS GOING TO ROCK!!
