OK... I got an e-mail from one of my friends who saw what happenned on Wednesday night... not much in the way of details but here it is:

"At Steve Miller, a fat guy got a little too belligerent over lawn chairs, 20 minutes later the cops showed up.

Heard later that they cut his week wristband off & kicked him out.

Best part --- everyone stood for the entire show."

I'm going to press him for more info - not sure if the "fat guy" was a stander or sitter, but I'm guessing a sitter.

Anyone see the huge open area in front of the "new and improved" VIP section at the River stage... 200 people could fit in there easy... but it was unaccesible.

I talked to a Mr. "Michael" who looked really important with his bluesfest shirt and walkie talkie, during the first set of the night. He said he would look into it... but nothing was done.

There was about 10 people really having fun in this section...

I decided to leave the venue to get a better view and watch by the river. Is it just me or isn't that really retarded?

From what I saw, it looked like it was accessible via the fenced-off centre walkway from the sound tent to the stage. It's a shame, because that was a great space to chill out to while quieter stuff was going, as well as a great space to get up front (admittedly right up against the left-side PA stack; I was there for Femi Kuti, and opted to put in earplugs) and dance.

Aloha,

Brad

OK here's some more info - the fight was actually between two lawnchair people!

The fat guy was sitting down.... there was some open space in front of him, a guy came up, asked if he could put his chair there. the fat guy with a very nasty tone said "No you're chair's too high" and then told the fellow to "the get the F. out of here".

the guy replied as expected with appropriate expletives & the fat guy jumped up & started

getting beligerent and a little physical.

Dumb move .... 20 minutes later the cops showed & told the fat guy someone was pressing assualt charges, and after a bit of chatter, escorted him out.

It was great fun and a lesson for frustrated bluesfesters everywhere.
