Velvet
Hypothetically, let's say a Jehovah's Witness or some other religion promoter arrived on your porch with their eight year-old child and rang the doorbell. Let's say you answer the door and say in a calm tone, "Get the fuck off my gawd-damned porch right fucking now and don't come back, you assholes."*Have you broken any laws?*No, I have not done this. bokonon
There might be by-laws against swearing, but they're not usually enforced. I'm no lawyer but I don't think there are any real laws broken there. And why haven't you done this, pussy?

Dr. J
Have you broken any laws? Only if your porch was in Quebec in which case you would be fined $4000.00 OR It was Prince. In which case you would be sued
AWeeJig
My mother has used profanities in a calm manner with Jehova's Witness in the past. Never has she had any trouble legally however, it still doesn't seem to deter them from ringing the door bell. She's a little pistol too. If it were me I'd definetely bypass this 5'0 100lbs womans' house.
StoneMtn
I can't see any criminal law broken, but I would think there's potential civil liability if you frighten the child and she suffers any emotional or psychological anguish. Freak By Night
I've answered the door to the Jehovah's Witnesses while listening to "Saints in Hell" by Judas Priest at top volume. Works better to ensure their swift departure than yelling and cursing at them.
StoneMtn
Really? A friend of mine once told them he was a Satanist, thinking that would get rid of them. Instead, he became a project for them and different duos of JWs dropped by every single day after that for a long time.

Kanada Kev
That actually is a crime.(BTW, Is that where you picked up that habit, too?)Seriously? Why can't you answer the door to your own house wearing whatever (or nothing)? Curious.
StoneMtn
You have every reason to believe that others can see you, so you're exposing yourself in public. If there happens to be a child there, you are probably also committing a sex-crime, by some description. There was once even a case in which a guy was seen masturbating in his own living room through his window, and he was charged criminally. I believe he was eventually acquitted, but he was still dragged through the system. (He may even have been convicted, actually.)

phishtaper
when i was at U Waterloo, the local JW's used to go canvasing with retarded children. they'd send them up to the door, wait for you to answer, then jump out of the bushes. now, those sharp dressed mormons, that's a different story ...
