Kanada Kev
Anyone going? Robert Randolph is opening.I'm going to be on the grass and trying to stay warm (it's a little nippy out today compared to yesterday).
Jaimoe
Hey KK, can you report back to Booche and I to confirm our suspicions that Robert Randolph is on the decline musically?
Basher
We were/are thinking of going. Lots of tickets floating around. Even TicketMaster had good 202 seats available this morning. That said, the ticket prices are obscene. I'm thinking $30 at the venue should get you a lawn ticket from a scalper. Kanada Kev
Hey KK, can you report back to Booche and I to confirm our suspicions that Robert Randolph is on the decline musically? I remember that the last time I saw him I was not nearly as impressed as those first couple of gigs I saw him at. It was the same thing, and not as good. I've passed on his last couple of trips through town. I can't see him translating well in a big amphitheater as an opener though. We may even hold off going in until closer to EC's start I betcha anyone who goes down tonight gets in on the cheap for sure! Read some very positive reviews of his opening few shows on this tour. He's playing for around 2hrs20mins!!! Take a read and you might think about heading down tonight: http://www.whereseric.com/tour/ Here's the last couple of setlists too: 22 May 2008 3rd Show - Summer Tour PNC Bank Arts Center Holmdel, NJ EC Band Lineup: Eric Clapton - guitar, vocals Doyle Bramhall II - guitar, backing vocals Chris Stainton - keyboards Pino Palladino - bass Ian Thomas - drums Michelle John - backing vocals Sharon White - backing vocals Setlist: 01. Ms Zimmy
Aww I wanna go...I've only seen Robert Randolf once, at Bluesfest, about 3-4 years ago and it was great...if he is going down, I don't want to see him again. But I want to see clapton. Have fun
Kanada Kev
I think that a smaller festival stage, club, or church would be the ideal place to catch Randolph. Sacred Steel is really powerful and I just don't find it works as well in larger settings. Have you seen the first Bonarroo DVD? No Randolph but another killer gospel/sacred steel group rips it up in one of the tent stages. Can't miss Slowhand though.

skelter
Love that setlist ... I saw Clapton in 94 at MLG on the From The Cradle tour - all blues covers, the only 'staple' was a good jive version of Crossroads. Jimmy Vaughan opened.
Schwa.
Hey KK, can you report back to Booche and I to confirm our suspicions that Robert Randolph is on the decline musically?Absolutely not. Stapes and I caught the tail end of his set at Langerado and aside from the content (preachy) he was fucking smokin'.

jaybone
No new job. Just a new ordering system they are testing. I was lucky enough to be chosen as a guinea pig while they test it out. It's even more boring then it sounds.
Kanada Kev
Think we're going to be havinbeers inside the venue before the show at the "Voodoo Garden". It's that onsite bar and rooftop patio that's past the turnstiles into the amphitheatre. Wooohooo ... i'm getting thirsty. Happy 4:
