Basher
Oasis brothers assaulted on stage at Virgin fest Sep 08, 2008 07:52 AM Jasmeet Sidhu Staff Reporter A man in his thirties has been arrested after Oasis' Gallagher brothers were “cold-cocked†in front of 25,000 fans Sunday night on stage at the Virgin Festival on the Toronto Island. Toronto police say the man either lept from the crowd or the wings of the stage during the final performance by British rock band Oasis. The man tackled Noel Gallagher and knocked down his brother, lead singer Liam Gallagher, who was midway through singing Oasis hit “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?†before he was seized by security. “The audience seemed shocked at first, the fan came out of nowhere,†said concertgoer Ryan Markle. “There was a lot of gasping and yelling.†The band dropped its instruments and left the stage almost immediately, prompting the lights to go on and leaving many of the 25,000 fans disgruntled. After a five minute hiatus, Noel Gallagher emerged to lead the group through another song before Liam Gallagher emerged silently to sing their popular hit “Wonderwall.†The concert concluded abruptly at 10:30 p.m. with a cover of the Beatles’ “I Am the Walrus.†Oasis, which has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, easily outdrew Saturday headliners the Foo Fighters on Sunday at Olympic Island for Virgin Festival. balogna pogna
This guy really stole their thunder. Aren't the Gallagher brothers supposed to punch each other out as a set closer each night?

phishtaper
was that for real? was a pretty lame "tackle". reminds me of the fake "stage rush" at a morissey show a few years ago. those brits. :susel:
Patchoulia
The inherent problem with this reporting is that the individual in question is repeatedly referred to as a "fan" in the article...um..what?With "fans" like that...who needs homocidal stalkers? ollie
I don't think it's that crazy in the sense that a fan got on stage and perpetrated an act of violence. Thank god the comparison ends there.
