Kanada Kev
^^^^I was hoping it would be a different Cockburn song. There are soooo many better ones. There was another on the ballot i think (If I Had A Rocket Launcher? or Lovers In A Dangerous Time) Oh well.
zero
Funny that Shad made the list.
Jaimoe
It's kinda disgusting that no song was deemed worthy from the rather healthy Canadian hip hop scene. CBC3 should have compiled the list instead of the CBC's lily white audience, who's majority is made up of grannies wired to the CBC in their retirement homes. Jaimoe
Where'd you read that? Was it not the CBC/CBC2 audience that compiled the list? The CBC audience is whiter than the Gumble brothers.
Northern Wish
Unfortunately The Rheostatics Northern Wish did not make the cut despite my many many votes....

Jaimoe
So, 1 out of how many?I'd have at least something from k-os, even if he is a closeted creep.

Jaimoe
Jaimoe, just let your backbone slide ok?Awful song, but at least The Tea Party, Nelly Furtado and Our Lady Peace didn't make the cut. Unfortunately, Diana Krall did.I wish the list was more subversive and included Stan Rogers definitive version of "Barrett's Privateers".
Hal Johnson
I wish the list was more subversive and included Moxy Fruvus' "The Drinking Song". What a great song. What's this for again?
Jaimoe
Still though, I can't imagine Obama slapping that Canadian mix CD on at a party: "Hold on Joe. I've got the next CD. Skip to that Parachute Club song".
Davey Boy 2.0
I wish the list was more subversive and included "Dildo Don (What's that mechanism you've got on?)". AD
Jaimoe, who would you recommend from Canada's hip hop scene, besides the terribly brutal k-os?Also, I don't think there are many grannies in their nursing homes listening to the Hip, Weakerthans, Malajube, Karkwa, Rush, Arcade Fire, Shad, Sam Roberts, etc..But yeah, for whatever this list is, there are some bad songs on it. However, I stand by my "lily white" comment.I like k-os and whether you like his album or not, Joyful Rebellion was one of the most significant hip hop albums ever produced in Canada.I'd include something by Dream Warriors or even something contemporary from two rising stars Kardinal Offishall and/or Saukrates.
