Hal Johnson
I recently re-heard their first record, and it's actually okay. its just the page/morrison resemblances and tendencies that always turned me off..lots of flowy shirts and gibson les pauls played with a bow.I feel the same way about them. When I was younger I loved their album with "the river" and "Save Me" and the at least one really cool instrumental, but they got pretty shitty pretty quickly. They started to lose me with "Temptation," then cemented it with that "Letter from a messenger song." That being said, I'll be you toobin their old stuff this morning! As you were folks. dave-O
That "Letter from a messenger song" is a Daniel Lanois song.
Booche
The set was great but by the end every song melted into heavy rock out mode and to me that suggests that the band was getting tired of having to play in rock out mode and finished their set before they absolutely had to.........So in your world the 11pm curfew had nothing to do with MMJ ending 'early'. Got it.

Rob Not Bob
Gomez:NORTH AMERICAN SUMMER TOUR CANCELLED With great regret we must cancel the remaining 8 dates of our North American tour. After a couple of days battling vocal loss, Ben met with a specialist who determined that he must take the next two weeks to recover with absolute voice rest. Our show at Terminal 5 tonight will take place as planned with Ian and Tom taking the vocal duties. We know it'll make for a unique night. For all our fans who have already purchased tickets to the cancelled concerts, please contact the venue for instructions on show refunds. Ian will perform solo sets supporting John Butler Trio in Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta and Richmond. We are intent on resuming our touring schedule upon receiving a clean bill of health from Ben's doctors. We couldn't be sorrier for this outcome. We really hope to see you soon! FRICK!!!! Hope he gets better, but still, ... FRICK!!!!

bouche
Jane's Addiction.WOW.Mother Mother. Not so WOW.I was surprised that Jane's Addiction would put on such a show that I wouldn't be able to leave. BTW, did anyone catch my big screen tweet?A metro writer caught it because she managed to track me down via jambands.ca and asked if I could be interviewed for a feature article regarding proposals at bluesfest. Pretty good sleuthing on her part.
ollie
Jane's Addiction were great but I did not like Perry Farrell's penchant for changing some of the vocal lines and they ended almost 15 minutes early! (And came on late.)"Ocean Size" was epic though.
Asparagus
I didn't see much of #mothermother @ottawabluesfest when Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and #janesaddiction were absolutely KILLING it. @ottawabluesfest.The texting or tweeting, or whatever it is, is terrible. (And came on late.)"Ocean Size" was epic though.Changing of vocal lines tends to happen when vocalists get older and can't hit the notes anymore. I agree that it was confusing that they left early, but really there wasn't much more they could do. We are really talking about a band with 2 albums to draw on (didn't want to hear anything from their early independent live thing, or the reunion album, or any new stuff they might have been working on). When they did "Three Days" I felt lucky. Now I am pissed.
Big Wooly Mammoth
cheap fucking trick tonight!!it's criminal that they are only getting 60 minutes, but I will be enjoying all of it (well, except for the flame, cause that song still sucks).courtyard hounds should be really good. they are the dixie chicks, minus natalie maines. very talented, bluegrassy music. (And came on late.)"Ocean Size" was epic though.Perry is an erratic brain-fried loon. Nothing he does surprises me. Great live band though. Navarro is a fucking a-hole, but man is he a fucking monster on guitar. "Mountain Song" would have been worth the price of admission alone (I've always thought its heavy main riff was influenced by Hendrix's "In From The Storm"). Freeker
That was the the worst thing I have ever witness with my own eyes. The storm overtook the festival in minutes we barley got out of the crowd before turning around and seeing the massive main stage buckle and fall backward, that image will be burned in my brain forever. My heart goes out to the dedicated stage crew, volunteers and everyone else that were probably doing everything they could to keep the show going when the stage came down. I pray to god no one died.

Big Wooly Mammoth
I pray to god no one died.that was my first thought as I saw the stage go down. I was hanging out close to the stage, and my kids were near the sounboard on a blanket. I noticed it getting dark really fast, and then felt a raindrop. I got back to the blanket as soon as I could. we were getting our stuff together, during some crazy winds, when I turned around to see what was happening on the stage and bang, it just went down from right to left, and a bit backwards. At least it didn't go into the crowd. But that was very scary.
ollie
We ducked into the beer tent about 30 seconds before the stage collapsed and then heard the crowd scream. We went out to take a look and I could not believe my eyes that the stage had collapsed on itself. It was a horrific feeling. It felt like people had died, but THANK GOD there were no fatalities.Official statement: There are no serious injuries on site.
