Jay Funk Dawg
Joe's Pub, NYC Set List was something like this: Beggar In the Morning Old Mythologies Chealsea Deacon's Son Cloud Ooh, Belle Lord, I Just Can't Keep From Crying Encore w/ Jocie Adams & her band Let Me Let It Go Give The Devil Back His Heart I love how they said on the second song, ' we all live in Canada - home of best hockey team 'The Canadians'. Apparently that was said for the hockey player in the audience. bouche
Barr Brothers snuck a nice little video link and anecdote in their email blast.---------------------------------------We're starting 2012 out with some exciting news. First, we'll be performing on Late Night with David Letterman this Thursday, January 5th at 11:35pm. Brad and Andrew's mom, Nancy Verde Barr, was on Letterman 25 years ago, as Julia Child's assistant when she prepared a hamburger for Dave, which he ate raw because the power went off on the stove (not our mom's fault - click here to watch!). Hopefully he'll remember.SHX0pv8_JOE

Blane
Dear Mrs. Claus is an original tune. You can buy the mp3 on iTunes and maybe amazon? My understanding is that it was a cover. Forget where I read that.Just listening to the band's NPR performance from today (http://www.npr.org/2012/01/05/144678767/the-barr-brothers-on-world-cafe) and it's simply amazing how much Brad's vocals have improved (or been re-invented) for this band. I can remember Slip stuff being positively cringe-worthy at times, and now there are elements that are really beautiful (just listening to Old Mythologies here as an example).Slip forum? Northern Wish
I agree on Brads singing. Those lessons Dickey made him take are finally paying off!
lsamuel3
Yah Brad has definitely found his voice for the most part.Even the 30/31 2011 Slip shows he sounds much better, but it still strains him to sing in a full blown rock and roll style at times. But then again, if you listen to Heartbreaker from 12/31/2011 he absolutely kills it. Sounds amazing.Bottom line, he's a smoker and not a strong vocalist naturally, he's worked at it. But he's found his footing it seems!
