Rockfest just announced its 2017 lineup. Dee Snider is playing. Maybe it wasn't so bad after all.

I got lucky calling Tom Petty for Bluesfest this year so I'll give it a try with jazzfest too:
I see King Crimson is in Montreal on July 3rd.  Could be they're booked for Ottawa Jazzfest on the 2nd?

Beat me to it. I read about these guys for the first time today and noticed a Jazzfest-sized hole in their schedule. Fingers crossed.
Related: for people who are interested in this kind of thing (I certainly am) their rider is publicly available on their website. Nothing too crazy, but I was surprised to see that Medeski doesn't travel with any of his own keyboards (at least not for this group) and DeJohnette only travels with his own cymbals. Hey Guys - here are some up coming dates for you. This is for both my solo stuff, as well as, my Grateful Dead infused project "Burt's Cat is Dead". BCD focuses on early to mid 70's inspired dead.

As for Burt Neilson - I played with Jeff the other night and we are on it, we talked about it, and everyone is in. That being said, we are kinda more interested in a few low key Dakota shows - nothing to big. We want a nice relaxed atmosphere so we can have fun!!! So stay tuned for those...they will be announced most likely at short notice
And, if you want me to play in say Ottawa, or anywere acoustic...find me a place and I am available most weekends! I'm back baby!

I was listening to the Adam Carolla show today and his guest, Derek Riedle, was talking about his projects and mentioned working with Greg Hemmings of HemmingsHouse.com.    
Listen to the podcast here.  They were basically discussing elevating the perception towards the cannabis culture.  He seemed to educate Carolla on how medical marijuana has made it easier for people to find strains that would work for them without any ill effects, after Carolla complained that all weed does is make him snack on cake mix, and anxious over everything around him.  Carolla is rarely this engaged in a guest.  It was a great interview.

very sad... I'd recommend to all fans to watch this movie of her cancer struggle... she's had a very challenging few years and it's really sad to hear she has passed yesterday, it obviously comes as a shock to the Soul & Funk community ...  she had a slew of dates on the books, so her condition must have changed rapidly resulting in her passing.
 
lots of love to the Daptone Records Family... they seem to have some bad luck, Amy Winehouse recorded her album with the Dapkings, their newest release by the Frightnrs comes off the passing of their lead singer Dan “Brukky” Klein , Charles Bradley just was diagnosed with stomach Cancer, and the news yesterday about Sharon... very sad.. 
My favorite song by Sharon has to be "How Long" - I've seen her play about 8 times, and I don't think I ever saw her do this one live...  i remember the band teased the song in an intro medley, but never played it with her singing... I always wondered if she didn't play it, either she was sick of it. or perhaps another reason?  To me this is her best known song and not playing it seemed strange, especially since she had an album called "give the people what they want"  - well I want Sharon Jones back!
