  1. The venue in Hamilton tonight is cool too, kookycanooky saw the Musical Box there, I guess it's like two conference rooms with the wall removed between them, and they bring in a stage and a PA. I'm looking forward to it. You snoozers should hop on the Q-E and check the show!
  2. I went. It was great. They started at 10, played until 11:10, then came back for three songs. Good setlist, one new tune and lots of oldies, fun show, you should come check them in Hamilton tonight.
  3. A couple years ago I left my keys in the little bin at the metal detector in the airport and I got them back because of the War Amps tag, it was sweet. That's pretty funny unto itself right there.
  4. Thought for sure I'd see somebody else mention this. I drove a friend to the Buffalo airport overnight on Friday and coming home at about 6:30am I heard the Chameleon Project plugged on the CBC show Fresh Air, she played a tune and hyped the live show and such. Anyway good on ya boys!
  5. Just tuning up the old pedal steel before heading out...can't wait to twang it up for you folks.
  6. The Kings are a bad-ass band; I actually had the privilege of being present in the studio as the mastering was completed on the record. It sounds awesome and I think many of you folks will dig it. Awesome songs, lots of horns. And Mississippi Kings guitarist Mike Ventimiglia is, indeed, playing guitar in Espanola this Sunday at CTMF...though his handle isn't to be confused with my other band Jawbone...that band will have a new name soon anyway. Watch out for this record when it's out, you'll love it!
  7. Hey so...at one point the lineup boasted Nick Rose and the Magnolias, which is a band I play steel in...I would have loved for you folks to have seen it but we had one guy who had to go home to BC. So instead I'm bringing you my new solo project, Espanola...one tune posted here: http://www.myspace.com/espanolamusic . Set is on Sunday at 4pm. Should be a lot of fun and I have a great band coming with me. Also of course I'll be on pedal steel with Stumbleweed on Saturday at 5pm. Hope everybody's ready for a great weekend!
  8. Even though we (Jawbone) didn't play to a lot of people, we had a blast on Friday. Unfortunately we had to leave Saturday due to city commitments but I was interested in playing the festival because it seemed like such a great and unique mix of bands, and that Allison was truly excited to offer a unique experience and I think she accomplished that. Let me be the first to say that we'd be happy to jump on a benefit show, especially if it means the possibility of seeing this fest again next year in some capacity!
  9. According to Bob Lefsetz, that wasn't the case at all...they all really thought he'd be back without a problem until ten minutes before he died. Here's his article about it (sorry the spacing is lousy):
  10. Last night was awesome. The Fembots, Run With The Kittens and Sun Parlour Players were three bands I had heard of but never seen, and I was incredibly impressed. The stage is huge and it was awesome to play on! As we were leaving this morning the whole compound was engaged in Dub Yoga, pretty awesome. If you're on the fence about heading up tonight, get in your dang cars, you'll have a blast!
  11. That's an awesome Hamilton story to have, man...I worked for Boris Brott for a summer and met Linc a few times, he's an awesome dude with a killer sense of humour.
  12. Take good care Bones. What are you doing over there, did you join the service?
  13. Brad, if you could make it and tape Jawbone, I'd be forever indebted.
  14. Jawbone and Little Foot Long Foot and Northwest Division at Supermarket, 268 Augusta Ave in Kensington Market. Rock and roll. I'm in Jawbone. We're back after a four-month break. We're really good. I'll give you your $5 cover back if you disagree.* The other two bands are also really awesome. You should really come to this show. *probably not actually able to do that.
  15. We're called Jawbone, and in alphabetical order, we are Goldstein, Aaron - guitar, vocals Hall, Pete - drums Malcolm, Cam - guitar, vocals Melnick, Adam - bass You can hear what we sound like here: http://www.myspace.com/hamiltonjawbone You may remember Cam as the frontman of the now-defunct Sweet Homewreckers, who had some Radio 3 love last year and a that was out there a little bit.Pete on the other hand co-fronted and did a good amount of the writing in A Northern Chorus. And Adam of course is bassist and keyboardist extraordinaire, having gigged around Ontario with me in Dan Griffin's Regrets, the Surly Young Bucks and Cam's solo act the Cam Malcolm Militia. We played about a half-dozen shows in March and April of this year and then took some time. Now we're back with some new songs and some new amps and a big rock show for you all. So come on down to the Supermarket this Thursday the 14th, and/or Pepper Jack's this Friday the 15th, where we'll play with two awesome bands both nights - Little Foot Long Foot and The Northwest Division. Hope to see you there!
  16. I'm gonna echo the support for the dailies too...years ago I used to wear the monthly disposables and found them to be irritating, and the whole routine with the solution and the holder and losing one half-way through the month and trying to remember which contact had 2 weeks left in it and which had a month...ridiculous. I did it for years though and then went back to glasses for about 5 years straight I think. Then I went with the dailies, which I wear maybe 2 or 3 times a week, and they're great. No solution, no storage, just pop them out of the package and into my eyes, and at night out of my eyes and into the garbage. I find they only last me about 8 hours though, but I don't know if that's still my eyes getting used to them or if they're actually getting gummy in that length of time.
  17. Jawbone has been on a bit of a hiatus too, turned out to be longer than we wanted but we haven't played in more than three months. We have all kinds of new material and we're very excited to rock, esp with Bullmoose...I haven't seen those guys in too long. Right on, Allison, this is gonna be a fun time.
  18. (ahem) The Tranzac show went extremely well last night...it's a small room but it was packed, people waiting out in the hall. People, if you like MUSIC, do yourselves a favour and come see the same band next week at the Dakota. We had two days in the woods rehearsing and it's showing. This isn't even my own shit I'm pushing, this is a band where I'm a sideman. Of course you should also make a point to come see Jawbone in a couple weeks...
  19. A good friend of mine JUST got off a bus from BC on Tuesday morning...probably the same route as this bus was on...this is so horribly fucked up.
  20. Man, I failed hard on this...for once I actually wasn't gigging or rehearsing and spent last night doing pretty much nothing. And I'm closer to Buffalo than all of you! Oh well.
