  1. An acoustic shock the monkey eh....
  2. Well damn..this would be a hell of a lot more convenient than Toronto...
  3. My sister got her car smashed in with a baseball bat. Hope the rest of you had a better time. I miss the Hammer!!
  4. I know some heady friends in Kentucky that claim to know the accuser. This story could have some legs.
  5. No real information provided to get a sense of anything... But yes guilty of cheese
  6. Just curious as to whether any of you other fine folk were in the audience last night. I headed down with Wassink Wild Card, c-towns and a couple other ladies. I'm a huge Avetts fan. Hard to live up to the tone and intimacy of the last time they rolled through Toronto at the Danforth. I found the Amphitheater to be a little cavernous for them, but they held their own. Nice to hear some of their newest material again. Really great to see Bob Crawford back on the bass. I hope that means his little girl is on a healthy road of recovery. Their music and his experience really struck a chord with me due to timing and my own "somewhat" similar experiences with my own son. Seeing him back up on stage was really uplifting. I had never seen or even really heard City and Colour before. Not exactly sure how I would describe their sound. They cover a lot of ground. The vocals were incredible. Overall I prefer having the full band up there to the solo parts. My most favourite part of all was definitely seeing our very own GoodRev and Daniel Romano up on the big stage. You guys sounded great and in my opinion are the most appealing part of the band's ecclectic sound. You are looking sharp up there too Aaron. Especially all blown up on the big screen! Congratulations again. You've come a long way in a short amount of time. Wasn't long ago you were creating some buzz in our own little scene here in the Hammer as you started surfacing. So great to see you up there keepin' it all natural like. Felt like I hadn't been to the amp for a long time. Heard Kiss and the Crue are in town tonight...
  7. Just dug out some old Rusted Root the other night. Been a long, LONG time. I hope you have a great show. If I wasn't already coming into Toronto tomorrow night for Avetts/City & Colour I'd be considering it
  8. ((((((((((((((peace, love, light understanding))))))))))))))))))) For all that its worth
  9. Dang, if this wasn't so pricey and complicated it could have been a REALLY cool and nostalgic night. I haven't seen the Hip in a great many years, but they were certainly a formative part of my debut into the live music scene.
  10. Yeah I've been hesitant to speak on this whether personally or on "behalf of the band". I think the uncertainty and discomfort that comes from closing such an important chapter in their lives in part contributes to why they have chosen not make a big "final" deal out of their final show. The "unofficial" official word is that they are packing it in. I do not know what this means for the future. I am confident that the boys will continue to play music, just not so sure about the shape or form or who that might entail. Twenty years is a real long time...and its difficult to keep it fresh, real, energized, etc without feeling pressured by other's or one's own expectations, etc in the midst of day jobs, families, different priorities and geographical distance. Although it brings me great sadness to see an end of an era I am excited by the potential opportunity and magic that can come forth from space, time, and tentativeness.
  11. Not sure how many of you on here listen to these guys, but definitely one of my favourite live acts. This is a major loss for the band, but I will be interested to see what change brings... http://www.jambands.com/news/2012/08/22/two-members-leave-cornmeal

    Toadhouse!

Oh really? That's sweet. Moving day for me so no dice. I'll have to wait til I run into you guys in a random magical forest or something
  13. Ha. Sail on Sailor. Quite the bust out. Bertha into Tough Mama was pretty cool too. And really, the whole second second was gold.
  14. Caught them last night in Buffalo. Seriously. Wow. Saw them last year there as well and they sounded good then, but holy they've come a long way. Super tight, super fluid, groovy, psychedelic, really melodic, and GREAT vocal harmonies. The whole band is smokin' but Neal Casal and Adam MacDougall in particular...so good to move to. Their drummer is wicked too. Anyways other than ctowns and TimmyB (thanks for the company) I am perpetually surprised that more people from around these parts and yonder aren't checking these guys out. ersh did you make it this time? Definitely a summer highlight and I've seen a lot of great stuff this summer. Anyways, they deserve a major plug. Their latest album is great and TimmyB informed me that another is scheduled to come out in the very near future.
  15. So apparently they will be on by nine

Ha! Amen. He's young enough to evolve. But who leaves three quarters of the way through second set?
  19. Here's an extra incentive. Starting at 8 on a street stage out front of the Winchester Arms will be Keep the Faith, a Bon Jovi tribute band. The boys could have a run for their money
