From Pitchfork "Very, very sad news: It has been confirmed that Jay Reatard has died. He was 29 years old. More details are forthcoming. Goner Records writes, "It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard. Jay died in his sleep last night. We will pass along information about funeral arrangements when they are made public." The Memphis Commerical Appeal reports that Reatard was found in his home at 3:30 am this morning. Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was a staple of the Memphis garage rock scene for years before bursting on the national scene with 2006's Blood Visions and subsequently signing to Matador. His most recent album, Watch Me Fall, came out last year. A statement from Matador reads, "Jay was as full of life as anyone we've ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly." RIP Jay

My god Eric I am so very sorry. The world lost a truly unique and wonderful person today, my heart goes out to you and your family. Jesse was one of those people that could bring a smile to your face at anytime anywhere. So funny and so kind. Take solace in knowing that he is no longer in pain and that his energy will live on in all those who's lives he touched with his undeniable spirit. Rest in peace Jesse

It's NYC, the city that never sleeps! After NYE 03 Sloth and I raged Karl Densen till 8 am. The key is to stay somewhere central, like at the Hotel Penn right across the street from MSG. Have fun all those lucky enough to be going!

I for one support doing anything with Landsdowne as long as its done soon! Parks, CFL, green spaces, hotels, box stores, brothels, who the fuck cares. I'd rather any of those things than the useless eye sore of concrete and pavement that's there now. Between our ineffectual city council and the snobs in this neighborhood, ground will not be broken in any of our lifetimes. These are the same groups that brought us a winter bus strike (city council) and those who picket an air conditioner for being too loud (Glebites)...Landsdowne is doomed!
