  1. I think Johnny is appeciated enough in the blues world, but certainly when he flirted with rock he was underappreciated.
  2. Jeff Tweedy and drummer Chris Mars (The Replacements) are sometimes members too.
  3. And another: Professor Geoff Smith was one of my favourite profs at Queen's.
  4. with a glowstick collar.
  5. Thanks Hux. Now I'll be watching Craig Ferguson.
  6. I really liked "The Blue Mussel Cafe" and my fish was excellent there. So was the beer.
  7. Have a great day Steve.
  8. I'm all over this fight. There's been tons of excellent cards over the years, but boxing is unfortunately not the draw it once was. Mayweather is the best fighter to come around in ages. He's blazing fast with knockout power and a fucking asshole to boot. Oscar is the underdog, but he still has speed and can hit. I'm heading to Kingston to watch the fight. The undercard will be good too.
  9. The editors obviously picked bigger type acts, but I have issues with a couple of the choices: Bob Seger, Alice Cooper and Tom Petty? I can't argue with the Top 6, especially #1 and #2. Roxy Music can fuck off. 1. Tom Waits 2. The Replacements 3. Cheap Trick 4. Sonic Youth 5. Warren Zevon 6. Big Star 7. The Pharcyde 8. Roxy Music 9. Talking Heads 10. Bob Seger 11. Fugazi 13. The Cramps 14. The New York Dolls 15. The Band 16. The Cars 17. Pogues 18. Alice Cooper 19. Dinosaur Jr 20. Sleater-Kinney 21. Husker Du 22. Devo 23. Wilco 24. Tom Petty 25. Ween

    Worst Venues?

    You are one "Funky Bitch".

    Worst Venues?

I agree with your observation, but the old Healey's was authentic in the blues bar tradition, thus I loved the place. Blues bars are not the most comfortable places, but squeezing up to the stage inches away from Son Seals? Well, it don't get no better than that.
  12. Cowboy's future self-built cottage along with actual photos of Cowboy and family:
  13. The Orbit Room in Toronto's Little Italy is pretty darn good. The band that plays there on Mondays are ok too.

    Worst Venues?

I remember talking to Jimmy Herring at The Comfort Zone and I asked him what he thought of the Comfort Zone. He rolled his eyes and said: "Oh man..."
  15. Yes, sorry. Hamilton. I always get the two mixed-up.

I've had some good experiences at Lee's Palace. I've always found the sound good and it has good sightlines and the elevated stage is a bonus, especially when you are on the floor. It's also one of the best punk venues in the city.

It's now the Kool Haus. It's actually improved tenfold, but still needs some work. The connecting Guvernment sucks ass.
  18. Why not make a list? I know all shows are different, but some venues just ain't good at all to see a concert or sporting event. Arrow Hall - Toronto Memorial Centre in Kingston Rogers Centre Opera House - only for some shows
  19. One of the main reasons NJ finished with the record they did was because of their key long-term injuries. And don't forget they are still without Krstic, he of the 16.4 ppg and 6.8 rpg, and Eddie House. The only long-term injury on the Raptors is Garbo. All the others were short-term. Yes, the Raptors had all kinds of injuries, but the NJ are still playing without some key players and are a totally different team with Hamilton in the mix.
  20. Ford hasn't been playing well. Who has? But Ford is definately hurt. He's erratic at the best of times, but potentially a game-breaker too. I'd like to think positively, but they got blown-out in Jersey and last night was the only good team game the Raps played this series.
  21. I've heard the spot once. He has sooo much distain for those two, at least in their morning segments. It's good radio that's for sure. I like Sam too.
  22. "Loose and comfortably moving his neck..." Dude, he was wearing a neck brace and looked kinda down. Any sort of ankle injury is bad news for quick point guards. Even with both Ford and Calderon at 100%, they'd be big underdogs on Friday.
  23. According to today's Toronto Star, DVR/PVR etc... have been included into ratings and as a result, The Office has seen viewership increase by 31% this month. Great news all-round for other shows too.
  24. CBGB. I loved the place. R.I.P..
  25. Wrigley Field or the old Tiger Stadium.
