  1. And that's me in the background holding a beer!
  2. I'm going to attempt writing a review on Monday night, but suffice to say that the two-night stand was a success musically and delivered the goods to the fans. Both nights were equally good for many reasons, most important being that the band never really missed a beat or got lost in the moment. Well done.
  3. She was a puck bunny... although once a puck bunny, always a puck bunny - see Sherry Clancy.
  4. Funny stuff! To add to Booche's story about me: I believe it was after grade 12 and I believe I was pushed into the bedroom.
  5. The only way the new BMO Field in Toronto will have any sort of decent attendance is when Becks' LA team plays. I hope he enjoys field turf.
  6. I'll wish you a happy belated tomorrow night in person. Happy Birthday!
  7. Whatever kido. When 1970's airwaves were flooded with music from artists as diverse as Abba to Bony M, kids like me were thankful for bands like Aerosmith and Kiss. Disco does indeed suck.
  8. This exchange can't miss in the funny department. Colbert's only bomb is the film version of Strangers with Candy.
  9. Pretenders songs had some of the most imaginative guitar solos on 70's and 80's commercial radio.
  10. Crazy Yanks: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070111/ap_on_hi_te/spy_coins
  11. Although I respectfully don't agree with your comment - they were an album band back then - if you do get one of their Greatest Hits albums, make sure it's not the red covered one - the first one they released in 1980. It butchers the into to Sweet Emotion and is pretty skimpy song-wise - excluding some great tracks like No More No More, Mama Kin, Toys In The Attic, Lord of the Thighs, Last Child and Rats In The Cellar etc...
  12. I gotta say that the Dazed and Confused soundtrack was a revelation. I was a pretty big Nuge fan in the 70's (who wasn't?), but Stranglehold never got much play. It wasn't until I heard the soundtrack - that was in the CD jukebox at a Ryerson pub back in the early 90's - that Stranglehold finally kicked me in the ass. Waht a fucking great song.
  13. I still think Rocks and Toys In The Attic are great albums, but as I near age 39, I've long grown tired of listening to Aerosmith's music. They aren't the only band from my youth that I can't listen to anymore due to weary ears: The Doors, Eagles, Kiss, Boston, Zeppelin II, Kansas, to some extent Crosby, Stills & Nash, Santana (except for Soul Sacrifice), Yes, Foreigner, Doobie Brothers, Steve Miller Band, BTO, The Guess Who, Styx, Journey, Supertramp, Billy Squire, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, some David Bowie, REO Speedwagon and Band On The Run by Paul McCartney.
  14. It's a damn good magnet. Normally it holds my autographed photo of Martin Havlat, but I took that picture down because I didn't want Booche to find me out.
  15. Aerosmith was my favourite band in the latter part of the 70's - along with Kiss and The Beatles and Who. I loved "Rocks", "Toys In The Attic", "Aerosmith" and "Draw The Line". However, I grew tired of the band right around the time they disintegrated - when Joe Perry left. Their comeback was surprising, but I never got on-board. Their sound got more generic, except for perhaps the single "Rag Doll". Also, they've put out far too many ballad singles that all sound like their Permanent Vacation hit "Angel". Overall, they should pack it in or start recording as fast as possible in Clarksdale Mississippi.
  16. I've never done a two-night stand for any band. nero will be my first and probably last. Fitting I say.
  17. Man, this is sad. Sneaky Pete did some great work with Zappa too in the early 70's.
  18. I'm not so sure I understand that sentence.
  19. Ahh, I'm just tired and down to my D material. I love those boys.
  20. I'll be at both shows. I can't wait to air-out my throwing arm with some rotten tomatoes and eggs.
  21. Exchange money at the hotel. There's no difference in the exchange and the hotel folks speak English. Havana is a wild place. Do not let anyone off the street take you for a tour or give you directions physically. They'll want money and/or food... and a lot of it.
  22. The NH Parque is one of the newer and best hotels in Havana. It's a relaxing place - probably more like a North American 3 1/2 star to 4 star hotel - but it is near everything Old Havana. Keep in mind that some of the old hotels DO NOT have air-conditioning. Also keep in mind some of the hotels in Havana are located quite far away from Old Havana; i.e., not within walking distance (and the cabs won't be cheap). You probably know this already, but: DO NOT bring US dollars to Cuba. They are not accepted in restaurants and bars. Most hotels will exchange US dollars. Canadian money is perfectly fine. Also, you'll have to place an order in to most Canadian banks for Cuban money. They don't have enough of it on-hand for quick exchange purposes.
