    Any CFL fans?

I'm a fan. I used to cheer for the Rough Riders during the J.C. Watts's pre-Republican years and I liked Tony Gabriel right up until he retired. I've been an Argos fan for 20 years, but I'm no diehard. The CFL is culturally important and when I travelled to Quebec and the Maritimes a few years ago, I was dumbfounded how big it is outside of Toronto (but the Argos do have a good TV audience). I follow the CIS too. Go Gaels (although they suck this year).
  4. I'm just mad that I didn't get a picture taken with Summer Glau. She ruled on Firefly and the Terminator series.
  5. A glass of California Beach House white wine... at work.
  6. I can't get into the new BSS album except for a few tracks. Same with BOH's latest, which is a letdown compared to their last album.

    BEER!!

That's the beer. I thought it was cheaper, but both times I bought it, I had other other booze on the bill and hasn't been a price listed. Ah well, it's still worth it.

    BEER!!

I agree. I wish it was offered all year. There's almost two pints in one of those big bottles, and under $5 taboot.

    BEER!!

I gave this fall/winter seasonal beer a try the other day and it's a winner. It's only been out in select LCBO stores for the past few weeks. It's a single 750mL bottle with a re-sealable cork. It's an amber-coloured pale ale - not as hoppy as Tankhouse; more in-line, hops-wise, with Hoptical Illusion or Black Oak Pale.
  10. Helix's single of "(Make Me Do) Anything You Want" was better and way more top than A Foot In Coldwater's. The rest seems fine. A Foot's original made it into Canada's Top 25 whereas Helix's only reached #44 on the Canuck charts. Both sound similar. Haaha. Fine' date=' but only if chart ratings are included in the criteria for "better" and "top". [/quote'] I'm assuming chart has to weigh in with this dude's criteria. Anyway, neither band made much of a splash outside of Canada.

  12. I would have included Triumph's "Magic Power", "Lay it on the Line" and/or "Fight the Good Fight". All were big hard/prog rock hits back in the '70s and '80s. I'd also add in another hard rock single, "Fantasy", by Aldo Nova.
  13. In that case, I'll add it to my list. Great album!
  14. The Suburbs - Arcade Fire Sea of Cowards - The Dead Weather Broken Bells - Broken Bells Under Great White Northern Lights - The White Stripes Brothers - The Black Keys End Times - EELS Teen Dream - Beach House High Violet - The National American Slang - Gaslight Anthem Mumford and Sons - Sign no More (I haven't listened to the new Ray Lamontagne yet, but I own it). I wish these albums came out in 2010 since they were revelations: Up from Below bu Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes and I and Love and You by the Avett Brothers.
  15. It was released in NA in 2009 and in 2008 in their native UK. Great album though.
  16. Were "Claire" and "Bad Time to Be Poor" released as official singles?
  17. Here's the original Toronto Star story, which includes criteria etc...
  18. There's a new book by Bob Mersereau (CBC producer and music writer) that's causing a minor stir where he ranks The Great White North's Top 100 singles. I love lists and his a pretty good one. I have issues with omissions and order (just as we all do with every list). For example, I think "Four Strong Winds" is Canada's greatest folk song and comparable to Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land", thus it should rank at #1 or #2. I also think Sloan's "Money City Maniacs" is the best fucking power-pop tune of the last 20 years and should be higher than #69. Also, Bruce Cockburn's anti-war masterpiece, "If I Had a Rocket Launcher", should be on the list, especially in place of "Everything I Do, I Do it For You", which is one of the worst singles of all time. Winterleep making it on the list is awesome.I would have included more from April Wine and perhaps would have thrown in a jazz tune from Oscar Peterson or added Stompin' Tom's "Sudbury Saturday Night" on the list (the latter is more revered by folkies). Also, another amazing Canuck folk song, "Barrett's Privateers", made famous by folk legend Stan Rogers, deserves to be on the list. I must say that I love anything that doesn't include Nickelback, Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party and Nelly Furtado... or Justin Bieber. RIP SRV

My co-worker told me that Citytv wanted a crew to shoot this hotshot new blues sensation at the El Mo. So, they brought some hand-held cameras, VTRs and a bare-bones crew. Few if any knew who SRV was at the time. However, you couldn't have gotten a better station to shoot a live show on the cheap than Citytv. They know how to produce concert videos and programs.

Some of my co-workers worked on this show. One of my favourites from one of my favourites:
  21. Agreed. I've also found that my cordless home phone will interrupt my wireless connection - I believe they use the same frequency.
  22. Have a great remainder of your birthday Bob!
  23. I immediately liked this new album. It's exciting and for me, the most interesting and kick ass music he's done in over a decade.
