Jim Rome said yesterday on his radio show that no way did Jr. retire on his own terms: last place ball club, in the first third of the season; he was either going to be traded or released outright. Jr. wanted to retire a Mariner, and thus he did.

The crowd was great last night - loud and appreciative throughout. The Phoenix's much-maligned sound and acoustics were surprisingly lively as well. I also liked the Avett's swag, even though it was fairly skimpy on CDs. I bought one of their limited edition posters and I almost caved on a shirt, which were pretty cool-looking.

Yes, but the hotel is located quite a ways from the downtown (just outside the village of Cataraqui); certainly not within staggering distance after a night out and the city bus schedule cannot be trusted and they don't run that late on certain routes. A cab to downtown will run ya around $10-13 one-way.

There`s lots of good TV out there, you just have to know where to find it. I like the reboot of Doctor Who quite a bit plus the Tudors is excellent. I have Season II and III of Breaking Bad in HD on my laptop; I'm still waiting on Season I. I can't wait for the new season of Rescue Me to start up.

I'm dying to see Burn Notice. I hear that my favourite acting icon, Bruce Campbell, is a real hoot in the show. One problem is that I don't want to add Super Channel to my already monsterous cable package. Another great new US show that's on Super Channel is Justified, starring Timothy Olyphant, who starred as the always furious Marshall Seth Bullock in Deadwood. I`ve read that Justified is one of the best new shows on cable. Can`t wait to see it. Oh, Justified is a modern western and Olyphant plays a marshall that tracks down the bad guys. It`s created by Graham Yost or The Pacific, Band of Brothers fame (and son of TVO`s At the Movies legendary host Elwy Yost).

Fringe is definitely influenced by Supernatural in reference to some of their stand-alone horroresque episodes. I do like Fringe though, and it's only getting better.

Awesome! We can go to Cabbagetown before the show and then walk over. I'll call the Phoenix on the weekend to see how ticket sales are going. It's hard to sell the place out though, and there's been some bigger bands there that failed to do so. The service charge at Rotate This is only $1 or $1.50, bless their souls.

There's a strip of goodness near Kipling station - and I know this sounds like an oxymoron when describing Etobicoke.

You could venture down to Bloor West Village pr downtown Etobicoke (which has a nice strip of bars and stores). Neither are too far away provided the traffic ain't too bad.
