  1. I can't think of a worse area of town than up by the airport. That being said, head over to the hotels either by the airport or near the park-and-fly lots - I think there's lots of options of the Montanas, Hooters variety.
  2. Supernatural is made by many of the same producers/writers from the X-Files, but the show is more fun and gives you answers. Jim Beaver from Deadwood co-stars. For me, every show I've seen that features Deadwood alums generally are worth watching. I'm currently re-watching Farscape (it went off the air around 4 years ago) and it stands up really well. In fact, I think I like it better after a second viewing.
  3. Wasn't Juliet in the church? She wasn't from season one... Was Arzt in the church? He was there in the first two years (and on the initial crash) and was in the finale.
  4. As Desmond would say' date=' "right on brutha!" Thanks again for the great cable show recommendations btw. Best shows on TV by far (Deadwood, Rome, Firefly, BSG, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Wire, 'Treme, etc. etc. etc.) [/quote'] And two more of my favourite shows of the past 10 years are Supernatural and Farscape (most pure sci-fi show I've ever seen, and perhaps the funniest).
  5. On that last bit you said, you are dead right about the networks and how they don't want their audiences to think. Part of the problem is that popular shows often appeal to the masses, which by design, aim for the middle. Shows that fly-under-the-radar or find an audience regardless of not wanting to conform don't cop out. Lost never copped-out or went the easy route. Supernatual certainly goes for it more than almost any show on regular cable, but cult shows can do this. Fuck Grey's Anatomy and the dozens of CSIs that pollute the airwaves.
  6. Ya, they have a similar tenor tone. I'm looking forward to the show.
  7. Good write-up. On an aside, I really like the casting of MIB (Titus Welliver from Deadwood - he played Silas Adams, one of Swearengen's confidantes) and Jacob (Mark Pellegrino, who plays Satan in Supernatural and was Rita's abusive ex-con husband in the first two seasons of Dexter).
  8. Well, I don't really like System of a Down partly because I find the vocals obnoxious; the Avetts' are anything but. I really haven't heard anything in particular that sounds like the Avett Brothers; at least to me, they are in the mold of traditional folk, country, bluegrass and a dash of gospel.
  9. Do all Stratford natives speak with suspicious American-sounding accents a la Bieber?
  10. Some emo bullshit band I've never heard of.
  11. Big George should take on Hershel Walker next.
  12. Happy birthday Jules! I hope the Jays win one for you tonight. Also, good luck on the east-end house hunting.
  13. Happy birthday Andre, but I still hope the Habs get swept.
  14. Back in the '90s, my friend wsa a VJ at the HMV Superstore at Yonge & Dundas in Toronto. I remember back at that time, I asked him who was the nicest star ever to come into the store for a performance or a autograph signing. He said nobody could beat Dio. He said Dio was very friendly, repectful to fans and strangers and seemed to remember everyone's name. Dio wouldn't leave the store until he said goodbye to my friend too.
  15. I'd rather take a chance and buy quality on ebay instead of settling for a junky Mexican Fender, no matter the price. The only great Mexican Fender I've ever seen, heard and/or played is Booche's Telecaster - his late father had it re-built and it's a fucking wicked guitar.
  16. I agree with Pablo. I have a G&L ASAT Classic that I bought new in the mid '90s and it can kick some Fender ass (even with me playing it), although it should since it was made by George Fullerton and Leo Fender, hence the G&L name. The only good off-shore Fenders were made by the Japanese. Part of why G&L guitars may not be the same as they used to be is because both Leo and George are dead and G&L now has a cheaper line made off-shore (probably in Korea).
  17. I can't wait for the Canucks-Hawks series to end. This is some boring shit.
  18. And he was scary good last night before and after his eye closed.
  19. Just enjoy their good play while it lasts. And fuck Ozzie Guillen and the fucking Sox and their beat writers that dumped all over Toronto for bad attendence. Chicago's attendance hasn't been good either and neither are the gates at many ballparks on any given night (last night was ok). All drawing flies are: KC, Oakland, Mets, Cinci, TB and Pitt. Yes, the attendence is embarrassing at Jays games, but if Toronto were located in the States, it wouldn't get singled out by US media. We are a big fish in a small sea and thus under a spotlight.
  20. His defense have been soft in front of the net. Chicago can do whatever they want in front of the net.
  21. Van's defensive zone coverage isn't good for his comfortability either.
  22. He hasn't looked comfortable since - and during - the Olympics.
  23. The end of the Sheep-Doctor scene isn't there, so you'll miss Daisy wearing lingerie and Gene Wilder's career in shambles and he's living on the street drinking Woolite.
  24. Beastiality can be funny too (Sheep-Doctor scene from Everything You Want to Know About Sex, But Were Afraid to Ask)
  25. The singles are the weakest songs on the album. it's also a grower kind of record, especially the 2nd half.
