  1. greens infuriate me.. Why would May even try and run in that seat? Didn't the NDP almost beet out the fiefdom in the last election?
  2. There are probably only 20% or so through Phish tix....
  3. Phish is probably anti-Canadian.
  4. FWIW in my younger years I seem to recall it being very easy to have cute hippy girls distract unsuspecting old door watchers at that venue only to see other dirty hippies kick the door open and people flood in.... I've also seen folks turn themselves invisible there.

  6. Sure its lost its momentm. And I think its also important to point out that from the beginning and for the most part, it was subversive and not overtly political. But that doesn't make it less political or less of a left-wing movement. Christ, who hasn't had a free meal from the rainbows on the lot. Or gotten a free ticket via greencrew.
  7. That wasn't actually the point. In fact, the point with art would be that you're missing the point when trying to value it. ie. the people that revolutionize and change the world are often not acknowledged until they're gone. If the neo-cons have them all making licence plates that we're off to "1984" very quickly. ps. your rebuttal to my reply indeed shows that I interpreted you correctly "spoken like a true neo-con" I believe was my interpretation. As an aside, and not meant to be a shot at you directly Bokonon, but it always amazes me to find out that right wingers are at shows. I mean, to me (and I would argue most, including the artists) the whole "jam-band" aka "phish" (admittedly less so) aka Dead scene/movement is born out of the left. Its about art and revolution and changing the old guard. How one can simultaneously enjoy St. Stephen and vote for Stephen Harper is inexplainable - or at the very least, they're not getting nearly as much out of the music as the rest of us. ...Strangers stopping strangers, just to shake their hands...
  8. Can someone with an Art History background please help me out here...
  9. I think its great and would love to hear it... or Baby Let Me Hold Your Hand... ps. I already posted on this and no one commented at all!
  10. Spoken like a true neo-con without consideration of what placed those people in the position they're in in the first place. Without consideration of the fact that every Canadian has a right to live. Without consideratoin that slavery was abolished years ago. And without consideration of the fact that if the welfare state helps just one person out of a hundred pick themselves up off the ground they're likely to pay enough taxes for the other 99...
  11. Is tonight's show webcast? Really regretting not going...

  14. You should edit the title to this thread... I'm going to be there, but I skipped reading the thread a few times first.
  15. I agree for the most part - but Elizabeth May kills me. She was well spoken. She will probably get move votes, and thanks to the Liberals propping her up in her riding, she may even win a seat. But her bit about thinking for Canadians for the short, middle and long term is B.S. She doesn't care about the short term. She cares about her own political aspirations and getting a seat to build the green party. I still don't understand why we need a "green party". From what I heard last night, and what I've gotten out of cbc radio etc. (admittedly I haven't gone through the party's platforms line by line), but from what I've got she is a Liberal in a party that most would see as being NDP. Why doesn't she get her well-spoken self involved in the Liberals or NDP. Why do we need a Green Party? We have a right wing party. We have a left wing party. We have a centrist/flip-flop party. None of them are perfect in their ideologies and its a constant evolution. The Greens have 12% poplular vote right now. Sure many of the votes may be from people that haven't voted in the past. But still, engage them to vote for one of the other parties. The last poll I read was approx. 36%PC, 24% or 26% Lib, 18% NDP and 12% Green. The 12% Green will translate to what, one seat? But it'll prevent the Liberal/NDP coallition from gaining the power in the house. Look, the system is broken - I believe there should be a mixed first past the post / proportional representation system. But there isn't right now. And Elizabeth May and her Green Party will not help us to get one by keeping Harper in power. Arrghhh End of Rant.
  16. isn't it basically a pyramid scheme?
  17. Shit. If I get tickets I better grab copies of all the post-Ghost albums. I only know 2/5 of those songs.
  18. If anyone booked right in Hampton please don't cancel without seeing if any of us can take it. ie. switch the names, don't cancel! I'm guessing that the hotels that do open up after people realize the don't have tickets will be expensive because the supply and demand will be all out of wack (falsely).
  19. its less than 2/3 of a big indoor venue. ps. and I admit I actually thought it was just shy of 10k
  20. Interestingly, it doesn't say in plain language that Hampton will be "the first" of the three shows. Who knows.... They likely are. And the reason for doing it this way is likely to build up the e-mail lists and show the powers that be that they are still going to sell out shows in these trying economic times where so many big barns are not sold out. Hampton is a sure thing to sell-out and then they can book the big places for the rest of their tours... I don't remember, but were the last few tours sold out? I have to confess, the whole thing excites me a lot more than I would have expected. I just wish I knew if I was going to get a pre-first hiatus phish or a post-first hiatus phish. I'd love to see 90's phish. But I'd hate to waste a vacation on the post-hiatus version...
  21. You're seriously scalping these tickets. Sign me up to be part of the wrath. Thats low. I assumed you were joking until the rent comments.
  22. I just realized that I haven't heard a thing about Vegoose this year. Isn't one I guess?
  23. Make sure you hit the Tunes for Tots at the Tabernacle too then...
  24. I heard she was breaking bottles over Ricky's head!
