  1. I like Mike, he's so friendly. And remindery too.
  2. The single is released today... http://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/highway-of-heroes-single/id371585877 Check it out.
  3. Ahh... there's the possibility I'm going wake up in Red Deer, AB that morning - the 13th is on hold for a gig. I should find out soon if it's gonna happen or not, but until then I'll have to write off the 14th. I'll keep my eye on it if anything changes.
  4. What's the date? I'm always looking for an excuse to hit up Ottawa.
  5. Sure does.... it's (almost) my studio accordion debut. Steve Murphy wins that one. ;-) The band debuted this song in Hamilton in November at the start of our acoustic tour... and the response we got from people about it has been incredible. It sadly hit home for a lot of folks. Especially after we played for troops overseas in February, releasing the track this way was the obvious choice. Net proceeds from the song will go to the Canadian Hero Fund ( www.herofund.ca ), a charity that provides academic scholarships to the spouses and children of soldiers killed in combat.
  6. It's funny... it took me a lonnng time to get into this CD, but it definately grew on me. And the ACL is awesome as well. Here's the link! http://video.pbs.org/video/1397479116/
  7. Yeah... definately the Town Ballroom is my other fav.
  8. We played this last year too with the Trews... and man, if you haven't been to Artpark - what a venue. And to offer up free shows like this as well is very cool. Can't wait for this. Buffalo seems to have two of my favourite venues anywhere...
  9. Are we even gonna get the new Conan show in Canada? TBS no longer broadcasts up here, leaving us with Peachtree TV, which is owned by TBS. Peachtree TV has different content than the cable TBS, and if anyone else has noticed, does not even air the George Lopez show. Does this mean no Conan for Canada?
  10. Ha! That's a bad ass picture... I look kinda pissed. I've just realized that I used to play in a band with Mike Bowell, who's playing guitar with Col Bruce this night. He's a killer player, and I'm looking forward to this night even more now.
  11. I was just gonna say that Ideal would my #1 choice in Ottawa. We have Two in TO, and Pete Elkas' girlfriend worked there for a long time as the coffee roaster. I too noticed that Ideal also had a Prince of Darkness blend.... I used to drink Oso Negro in Canmore allll the time. I asked her about this, and I found out that the guy who started Ideal was from Nelson and also started Oso Negro, and then Ideal when he came to Ontario! Ideal is definately my favourite.... Although, and I'm glad to see it on here as well... CAFE DU MONDE coffee kicks major ass. I bought some in New Orleans after visiting the cafe for breakfast (the beignets were to die for) and where they sell mountains of it at every tourist shop, and I've seen in it more southern grovery stores as well in the US. I actually ordered a case of it from their website. Might have to do that again...
  12. I've always been interested to hear this... and really only remembered many years later that I actually sat in with them! Ah... Evolve. Thanks Scott.
  13. Sad news. That's too young. No need to cut up Gordie though. He's the best of guys and the worst of guys... like most of us.
  14. I just got this recent Lefsetz letter in my inbox. He's often too cynical for me, but every once in a while he writes a good one. ____________________________________________
  15. Wow... I got 0% correct. But what I am gonna do is sample all those great sound effects!!
  16. Ha! The guys don't know it yet, but Mike's gonna come down to Grossman's tonight as well and jam a bit. Should be a hoot! :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: = :dazed:
  17. It was T Bone and Mario Cipollina from Huey Lewis & The News who were the first guys I really noticed playing the bass guitar... made me wonder what the guitar with the longer neck was.
  18. I've met Cut Loose and Mad Dog a few times since seeing the movie. They brought the Trews an autographed DVD (singned by the band AND them) to a show a while back... and said that they loved the song "Gun Control" and would be right up front at the next gig EATING the monitors. Best line of the movie... Rob Reiner to a fan in Europe asking why they're not playing for bigger audiences there. "I could answer that in one word... two words (thinks about it) ....three words - we haven't got good management."
  19. This room is definately in my top 5 favourite places to play... anywhere. Absolutely love it! If you're in the area, come by. Should be a full house, and Buffalo always treats us good! Trews Acoustic w/ Son of the Sun Friday Feb 26th 2010 The Town Ballroom Buffalo, NY 15 adv/18 door
  20. I'm playing with Caution Jam tonight (2/20) at Grossman's... always a good time.... And Gavin Maguire's band Dearly Beloved is playing across the street at the Elmo at 10. http://www.myspace.com/dearlybeloved Go see live music!
  21. I was at this show, and actually made a board recording with Kornblum back in the day... my two copies on tape are long worn out... looking for a digital copy. Anyone have it or able to point me in the right direction? Thanks.
