viperHouse was actually more of a horn-based jazz/funk band. They played the Ottawa Jazz Fest in 1997 and 1998 (IIRC), and released the 1997 show on CD (called "Ottawa"). I saw them in 1999, and they impressed me so much I went back to see them the next day. They did everything from originals (including one sung by Ray, the keyboard player, called "Swag", which amounts to a musical rap about macroeconomics) to Sun Ra to Neil Young. They're not around anymore, unfortunately, but there's some info here.

Aloha,

Brad
