PalacePrincess
maybe this is just a ploy to get people to buy the dvds, fox trying to cash in a la what happened with family guy.so all you people with ripped off arrested development episodes, go pay for the dvds & maybe they'll bring it back. backbacon
Maybe if Fox actually marketed Arrested Development people would watch it... how many fricken prison break commercials have I seen compared to areested development?? backbacon
plus I heard Jason bateman got some cancer type thing or something removed from his throat so maybe that has somethign to do with it too... don't quote me on that because I know very little about it. PalacePrincess
not cancer:BATEMAN HAS SURGERYJason Bateman of Fox's Arrested Development underwent surgery yesterday to remove a benign polyp in his throat, his publicist said. A spokesperson for Bateman in Los Angeles said the operation went smoothly and the 36-year-old actor was doing well.Production on Arrested Development will be on hiatus for a few weeks while Bateman recovers. Original episodes of the show will continue to air through November.
bouche
it's truely amazing. this is perfect evidence that the current polling by Neilson's ratings is HORRIBLY skewed. With the current digital TV technologies, they could empower people like me with the ability to 'opt-in' on ratings and track EVERYTHING I watch (aside from my computer PVR...and that's a different story). As well, the amount of people that download shows off of the internet is astounding. The current generation watches TV on demand, and the internet is a big part of that via Torrents. The torrent trackers could show the extra millions that may be watching as well. damn those executives. I have no doubt that the show will eventually be resurrected. IT's just TOOO brilliant. The masses will catch up on DVD . Kinda like the family guy, they can't seem to track television viewers quantitatively, or accurately, but they can track DVD sales. Everyone go out and buy SEASON 1 and

peipunk
Disaster!!! I think we're right here, this show is way too smart for the average joes that they do the Neilson ratings with.Bastards!!!
Jaimoe
If the DVD sales are strong, the show may get picked up on another network. The show would work better on HBO anyway.Buying the DVD's worked for cancelled show like Firefly, Family Guy and Farscape. Hopefully something similar will happen with Arrested Development. backbacon
umm, is it saying it is cancelled for next season?? I thought they had a deal for season 3 and 4? I thought it was just taking it off for a couple weeks... maybe I read it not ritght. I've only watched season 1 so I'm set for a while anyways! Hartamophone
Don't hate Fox, hate the average American that doesn't "get" it. Probably a safe assumption that the average Canadian doesn't "get" it either. I have no doubt that the show will eventually be resurrected. IT's just TOOO brilliant. The masses will catch up on DVD . Kinda like the family guy, they can't seem to track television viewers quantitatively, or accurately, but they can track DVD sales. Everyone go out and buy SEASON 1 and 2 I'm really hoping for this too, although we need to remember that it's a hell of a lot easier to reunite a small number of people to do voice-overs than it is an entire live-action cast, nevermind the logistics of sound stages/sets/etc. Edited November 11, 2005 by Guest

bouche
I feel that this casuality will return in some form eventually. It's causing quite an internet stir. Thanks to the Family Guy, people will take 'the stir' more seriously.
Freak By Night
Fox killed the show by moving it to Mondays.
bouche
not only that, I tried to pick it up for about 4 weeks on monday after I adjusted, and it was all fugging MLB! It came back after base-fukkin-ball for 1 goddamn episode and then they cancelled it. I would love to beat the shit out of the 1 person that is responsible. I know he/she is out there. If it's a woman, I'll beat her down too. Edited November 13, 2005 by Guest
Jaimoe
They should have moved the show to Sunday's. Fox needs a good 8:30 show.
thatpatguy
I don't know if these things work or if they just harvest emails.. but there is an online petition to save the show: http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/arresteddev
Booche
"Fox killed the show by moving it to Mondays."They certainly had their purpose. I read an editorial back in August from some SanFran paper that predicted this chain of events based on that Monday move. Fox wanted to kill the show without looking like the bad guy."Heeeeeeey, we are losing tons of cash. This is one of the most expensive shows to make and no one is watching it."There's a reason why you fuckwads.
Freak By Night
The same thing happenned to "The Beachcombers". One of the most popular Canadian TV shows ever, on Sunday nights for like 15 years, then the CBC moved it to Wednesday. All of the sudden nobody's watching. bouche
I think the family guy had a petition like that, but there also was a website dedicated to making an uproar.Ultimately, it was the DVD sales that did the trick.
