SevenSeasJim
So I just heard this song and got to thinking; what are some other songs that people really enjoy that are written because of true stories? When listening to this song I totally feel the emotion of it. Anybody else??

bradm
It seemed only appropriate, given what I know of the song, and the songwriter, and today. Aloha, Brad

Blane
Bob Wiseman has a bunch of them. A few that are particularly poingant are Just Tourists and No Commotion (both about the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior), Bhopal (about the Bhopal disaster), and Diary of a US Crop-dusting plane pilot...New Speedway Boogie (about the killings at Altamont) is a great tune.and on the lighter side of life, Zappa's "Texas Motel" beatles medley about Jimmy Swaggart and Pat Robertson is hilarious. Dr_Evil_Mouse
Recent acquisition - Dave Waddell's "Gone Fishin'", about Tyrone Conn, who once busted out of Kingston Pen (leaving the epigraphic song title scratched on his cell wall), to no good end.
