kookycanooky
I think the houseman is out of the band...i'm not sure but its my guess he had a coke problem. Last time i saw them they had a female singer. I think she covered whole 'lotta love. I dont know what the real story with house man is...The first time i saw them was a few years ago and I picked up the album "live at tipatinas"...and i really like it...Not on that album is a song called 'laying pipe' which is my favorite song. When i saw them for a second time, they changed their sound...not as funky as before. can anyone who's seen them recently give me the low down about their current sound? NewRider
Theryl DeClouet had health issues, I think that's why he's not in the band anymore. He was kind of the only authentic New Orleansy part of the band though. I think he was actually the only one in the band that was from New Orleans too. www.galacticfunk.com has soundclips
dimafleck: the living legend.
i'd be intresting in seeing this if it wasn't at the opera house.unless its a band i really care about, from now on, i refuse to see shows at that dump. fluffhead77
No, the whole band is from N.O. ...they started their career as a Meters cover band.Dima - Whatever man, the opera house rocks...I've seen a ton of amazing shows there and never had any complaints...whats your beef? Jaimoe
In - Jaimoe - not a fan?I've seen them three times and each time was a mild let-down to downright boring. I have three of their albums too, and I've finally come to realize that I don't like them.
NewRider
from the bands bio on their website"Galactic was born in the early '90s, after two Washington DC punks – guitarist Jeff Raines and bassist Robert Mercurio – relocated to New Orleans" I'm pretty sure I've read the other guys aren't from New Orleans either, they all just went to school there. dimafleck: the living legend.
my beef:the sound usually sucks. the security usually sucks. the stage is about 2 feet too low.i saw RR and Family Band there and all i saw was the top of his hat.i saw Vic Wooten there and all i saw was his chest upwards....now, the man has got a great chest, and is cute as a button, but i came to see his hands...and i didn't see a thing.the opera house is a dump...
