I always resisted that "Deadwood" cuz I really dislike Westerns, on general principle (not certain what that principle is, precisely)...but I heard Timothy Olyphant is in it, and I looove him...so I might have to rent it...

You would love it just for the use of language in the series. My favorite are the c@cksucking soliloquys.

Has anybody else ever watched It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia? I'd seen the promos for it on Showcase over the past few months, but never been up watching TV when it was on, but they ran a marathon of episodes of it on New Year's Day, and it's pretty good. It's kind of Seinfeld-esque, in that it's a siutations comedy, with the comedy not resulting from what happens in one overriding particular situation (e.g., the way M*A*S*H was set in the situation of a battlefield hospital during the Korean War), but from the individual, per-episode, weird situations the characters get themselves into (e.g., two of the male characters joining respecitve sides of an abortion protest to see how many of the women they can hook up with). It's mostly set in a bar in Philedelphia, and the characters are all irascible, immoral, foul-mouthed losers, with little sense of shame or proper behaviour; it regularly pushes stomps over the boundary between good taste and bad.

Aloha,

Brad

Hockey would be the only thing on television I would feel like having a beer while watching, aside from that the amount of television I actually watch, it would take over a week to drink a six pack. 028ws9.gif

[color:red][edit to add]

Not to mention (hockey being the exception) once I have two or three beers in me, I only feel like listening to music (CD or DVD) anyway...

BTW Backbacon, I happened to flip through and see Drew Carey hosting the Price is Right last week. What a knob. I thought he was condescending, un-prepared and very dull. I know he's new. Hopefully he'll get better.

Bob's are some big shoes to fill.

Basher is a huge Price is Right fan and doesn't think much of Mr. Carey either....

I big time miss Bob. Drew really hasn't improved much since his first show. I especially don't like how he introduces the prize of a car to a contestant. "Did you drive here today?" "Yes", says the contestant. "Well maybe you'll be driving home." Umm, well yeeaah, I'm pretty sure the contestant will be driving home if they drove there, dingbat.

Drew might be half as good of a host as Bob but he's 1000 x better than stupid Rosie would have been. That would have driven me to do a lot more than drink during The Price Is Right!

Timothy Olyphant is the coolest character in the show. I love how he walks in it. I've never seen anything so cool.

You see Julia, Timothy sucks in almost everything he's done EXCEPT for Deadwood. He's fantastic in his role as real life ex-Marshall Seth Bullock. The western as a film genre contains some of the greatest movies and television shows ever made. If a film is good, it really shouldn't matter what genre it is in.

It may be that I was subjected to "Shane" in Grade 8. I was OK with Westerns before that.

He is the best thing about that movie "The Girl Next Door" or whatever it was called... What a serious travesty of a film that was. I was expecting some quality "tuggin" moments (a movie about a pornstar living next door, and Elisa Cuthbert taboot. I mean come on!), and all I was left with was a serious urge to start drinking...

WTF, that's just wrong!

Jack Palance, Alan Ladd, Jean Arthur, Ben Johnson, Van Heflin, Brandon De Wilde and directed by George Stevens = one of the best westerns ever. Maybe you should stay away from this thread.
