PassedOutGuy
We can look at the positives... Blake looked really good and quick his first game... the entire first line was dominant at times... i repeat... at times. I like White as a defenceman and the Steen line looked pretty good as well...on the opposite side now i ask.. where the hell was Darcy Tucker tonight? Didnt even notice him on the ice.... Hal Gill... while I admit Booche, i thought he might be a good pick up at the beginning of last year I can honestly say an 8 year old can skate faster than him...Im sure we'll see Toskala tomorrow night... AD
I was really impressed with Jason Blake. Never really thought he was a top-line player until tonight.
PassedOutGuy
I agree AD... his skills with the puck and knowing how to get to open ice should work nicely with Sundin...
Booche
It's still a questionable contract for an older dude. The jury is still out with JFJ on this deal. It all comes down to his production and not his potential.Anyways, Raycroft led off this year like he left off last year as far as I am concerned. hamilton
on the opposite side now i ask.. where the hell was Darcy Tucker tonight? Didnt even notice him on the ice....I think Tucker is a pretty over-rated player. I mean, sure he knocked in 20-something goals last year, but most of those were done from the side of the net, tapping in perfect passes from Sundin or Wellwood while on the powerplay. Shit, even Tie Domi could have managed that. Defensively, Tucker's a liability. Check out his +/- from last season. Sure, he's got fire and spark, but it doesn't translate into goals often enough. AD
Anyways, Raycroft led off this year like he left off last year as far as I am concerned. I didnt watch the game aside from breaks during the Habs gameSweet commentary.

Whitey
Overall, it was a pretty good game for the Leafs. Too bad about the OT loss, but they played a very solid game. Even thought they took the play to the Sens for most of the game and I loved the physical play that they came out with. How about Jason Blake? Wow, he is speedy and physical. I was pretty concerned when they were starting Raycroft in net, but Maurice's explanation made sense. Let round 2 begin. Btw, Heatley is worth every penny. Hal Johnson
I think Heatley will go down in the books as this crazy mythical figure, ie, the man with two different coloured eyes, no teeth, a chip on his shoulder..... Is he even human?Kilger could have at least tried to get in his way even just a little bit though. He was right there for chrissakes.
SevenSeasJim
The bottom line is that the Leafs probably would have won if they had a goalie (somebody with at save% over .900)
Whitey
Absolutely Vic, what the hell was he thinking? He was standing right beside Heatley and all he had to tie up his stick or get in front of him.
Hal Johnson
He should have to buy the team dinner for a play like that.
djmelbatoast
The worst part is that in the post-game interviews all the Leafs thought the game had gone well. Raycroft thought that he had a good game and Maurice was happy with the outcome. There's the spirit of a champion.

SevenSeasJim
lol and they would have scored more than Ottawa if Raycroft could save more :wink:Last year Raycroft ranked 36th in the league in save%.894That's not going to make the playoffs ever. Booche
Sweet commentary.I certainly didnt have to watch the whole game to come up with my 'accurate' opinion. So, who starts in net for the Leafs tonight?

badams
"Head coach Paul Maurice would not confirm his starting goaltender for tonight's game - a practice he plans on continuing throughout the regular season." The media is just going to eat this up and it's going to cause such a distraction to the team. Ahhhh hockey in TO is back
Kanada Kev
Toskala tonight. HUH? The article is titled "Toskala Gets The Nod" and then goes on to confirm that he's not the confirmed starting goalie tonight?! That's some high quality reporting
