peipunk
I don't remember anyone talking about this movie yet.....I just watched it.AWESOMEGreat story, great movie, makes me want to get out and do some headbanging. If you haven't seen it, watch the trailer on their website (which is pretty amusing itself):www.anvilmetal.com
Jaimoe
I saw the film at last year's Toronto's Hot Docs fest and posted an off-the-cuff review that I assume few read: http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/246479/post/522894/hl/Anvil/fromsearch/1/I love the movie: great story; it's heartbreaking, frustrating and funny. Anvil recently signed with a big Hollywood agent and are opening in select cities opening for AC/DC. I hope they finally make it.
peipunk
Ah! I do vaguely remember that thread you posted Jaimoe. Consider this a rebump for those who didn't read it then or see the movie yet.
jayr
Saw this a couple weeks back. They must be doing a hell of a lot better after it came out. I was a little surprised to see their album in Walmart beside all of the other latest releases a couple days ago. Good for them!
Jaimoe
Walmart? Maybe they made a deal with the devil afterall?
Freak By Night
I finally saw this movie this morning and enjoyed it immensely. I remember seeing Anvil open up for Iron Maiden in 1982. I didn't think much of them back then. Saw them again in the early 90s in a metal club in Hull, I appreciated them a lot more that time. ::puts on vinyl copy of "Metal on Metal"::

Thorgnor
Did Tweedy use the "This song is dedicated to Anvil!" line right before The Late Greats?... cause he did in London.

ersh
I've met Cut Loose and Mad Dog a few times since seeing the movie. They brought the Trews an autographed DVD (singned by the band AND them) to a show a while back... and said that they loved the song "Gun Control" and would be right up front at the next gig EATING the monitors.Best line of the movie...Rob Reiner to a fan in Europe asking why they're not playing for bigger audiences there. "I could answer that in one word... two words (thinks about it) ....three words - we haven't got good management."
bouche
Best line of the movie...Rob Reiner to a fan in Europe asking why they're not playing for bigger audiences there. "I could answer that in one word... two words (thinks about it) ....three words - we haven't got good management."agreed. that couldn't have been written or even acted funnier. you can see his brain counting and abandoning the count as he says the line. Hartamophone
All of the great human moments of the movie notwithstanding, I think the part I laughed the hardest at was when they showed a one-second shot of someone turning an amp up to 11. boiler
So I was just watching Episode 2, season 2 of Sons of Anarchy, all of a sudden I was like "holy shit, that was Lips." I've snipped these: I googled it, it was him. The drummer went out with a bag just before him. :drinks:
