  1. I'm with you on the Brian Blade praise. But are Black Dub actually planning to tour? I am not much of a fan of the album, the singer lady doesn't do it for me, but I'd go see them live if the price wasn't too high. Maybe its just me but they do seem to have some kinda viral ball of popularity going for them.
  2. I'm using Acanac.. I think it costed me $20 or $25 per month month for one year, in one lump sum payment. Dry loop DSL. Not sure of the downloading caps. The customer service has sucked, in my experience. I think once my year is up I'll switch to someone else - probably TekSavvy!
  3. http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/14/new-radiohead-album-the-king-of-limbs-will-hit-web-on-saturday/ New Radiohead Album, ‘The King of Limbs,’ Will Hit Web on Saturday By DAVE ITZKOFF It’s the morning after the Grammy Awards, when the recording industry is still recovering from after-parties, after-after-parties and any pathogenic bacteria it might have picked up from Lady Gaga’s egg, so who would expect there to be any music news before Justin Bieber wakes up? Radiohead, that’s who. That nonconformist British band opted to wait until immediately after the Grammys (and, in Britain, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards) to announce that its next album, “The King of Limbs,â€will be available as a digital download on Saturday before its physical release in May. But unlike its last album, “In Rainbows,†for which Radiohead allowed online customers to pay what they wished (if they wished to pay anything at all), “The King of Limbs†will not be sold at such flexible prices. On its Web site for the new album, thekingoflimbs.com, the band said that a digital version can be purchased in advance for $9 (for MP3 format) or $14 (for WAV format). Radiohead is also offering what it calls a “newspaper album†release of “The King of Limbs†(a metaphor that was lost on at least one newspaper employee) which includes two 10-inch vinyl records and a compact disc, as well as “many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-color piece of oxo-degradable plastic to hold it all together.†This release is sold for $48 (for MP3 digital files) or $53 (for WAV), and will be shipped on May 9, the band said.

  9. This is a surprise! 20th anniversary show in April in Toronto. http://www.chartattack.com/news/2011/jan/20/king-cobb-steelie-announce-20th-anniversary-show King Cobb Steelie Announce 20th Anniversary Show I know, right? You may have perhaps looked at that headline and thought, "Wait, they were still around?" But the answer is yes, King Cobb Steelie are still making music. Kevan Byrne and Kevin Lynn's heyday was with 1997's Junior Relaxer album and its "Rational," which was their biggest hit. But they've been working together since 1991, so it's about time for them to celebrate the big 2-0. With that in mind, they'll hold a benefit show on April 16 at Toronto's Lee's Palace to support children with hearing loss. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster, the Horseshoe Tavern and Toronto record stores Soundscapes and Rotate This. They'll run you $13.50. Former members of KCS, including Minotaurs' Nathan Lawr, C'Mon and Change Of Heart's Ian Blurton and Spookey Ruben will be on hand at the gig to perform with the band. King Cobb Steelie's most recent album is 2004's Destroy All Codes.

I only caught the last 30 minutes of so of the set. All Christmas tunes, sounded good, pretty funny. The guy from the Fembots was with them; I think the description above includes expected guests for the whole Oxmas tour (also Guelph, Sudbury, 1 other town).
