  1. Did he do any songs off Look Into The Eyeball? I love that David Byrne live at BBC Studio album and listen to it a lot.
  2. Speaking of British comedy, has anyone here ever seen Garth Marenghi's DARK PLACE?
  3. Thanks for the Spades news, I miss that band! Only saw them once the whole year I was living in Toronto/Canada.. Hopefully this Spring I'll catch a show. Who's pedal steel is that?? Great that Winchester has picked up a theremin.
  4. RIP Merl. Sad news. Seeing Merl at the CZ was one of the highlights of the early years (for me).
  5. Yes! This is a positive step for the village. Look forward to tipping some pints at this place in the Spring or so!
  6. He played the half time show at the Grey Cup in Toronto last year... More filler than substance I would say. I'd go if he was playing for free and someone was giving me a ride or piggy back there.
  7. I shant be tuning in, the net being too slow here.. But what is it like? Which album is it comparable to?
  8. Damn this looks good! Wish I had fast internet. Anyone want to send me a care package over here in Uganda?
  9. Sounds good! Did he play anything off 'One Foot In The Grave' or 'Stereopathetic Soulmanure'?
  10. I am heading to Zanzibar for about 10 days starting on December 22. There's going to be a group of us meeting up there and it looks like we're going to end up staying here: http://www.shehebungalows.co.uk/ I hear the north of the island is where its at, largely because there is good swimming to be had at low and high tide, but it seems to be pretty booked up. Shehe is on the east side. I'm hoping to do some diving as well, and also to spend a night in Stone Town to see what there is to see there. Any tips Blane or anyone on things to see/do, places to stay, places to eat, etc?
  11. Crazy. No press release to accompany this news??
  12. Thanks dudes! I had to do this quickly. I took a bunch of yours and made up some of my own. A lot of your questions are way too music nerd esque.. No offense meant of course. Takes one to know one. Here's what I went with: Q: Who makes a guest appearance on pedal steel guitar on Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's 1970 hit song "Teach Your Children"? A: Jerry Garcia Q: Eric Clapton's song "Layla" was written about the wife of which famous musician? A: George Harrison (of The Beatles) Q: Elvis Presley wrote how many original songs? A: zero Q: Spell "Lynyrd Skynyrd" A: "Lynyrd Skynyrd" Q: Name the famous Nigerian musician who popularized "afro beat" music in the 1970s. A: Fela Kuti Q: This South African male choral group accompanied Paul Simon on his 1986 album "Graceland" A: Ladysmith Black Mambazo Q: The Festival au Désert (or Festival in the Desert) annual music festival is held in the Sahara Desert. In which country does this festival take place? A: Mali (near Timbuktu) Q: This 1930s Delta blues artist is often cited as "the most important blues musician who ever lived" A: Robert Johnson Q: What do the following muscians have in common: Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, Janice Joplin, Robert Johnson, Jim Morrison, Ron Pigpen McKernan? A: They all died at age 27. Q: This man was the original singer for Australian rock band AC/DC, from 1974 until his 1980 death from alcohol poisoning. What was his name? A: Bon Scott
  13. Hey all! I need to come up with 10 questions for a pub trivia night that my team is hosting. (We won the last one so we make the questions for this one). I am in charge of the "music" category.. Unfortunately I'm finding I am insanely busy with work right now and thought I'd see if I could get some of you to offer some Q&A. Anyone got anything for me? Keep it relatively simple I guess..

    Toronto Tacos

I lived on Clinton just a half block up from Tacos El Asador all year! BUT that said, I never have understood what all the fuss is about. I guess it is the most authentic and they are making their own tortillas and all that, which is great. But I just didn't find the taste factor was there. This is undoubtedly due to my Taco Bell upbringing and what I have come to expect from the US taco scene.. It all comes down to cheese or lack thereof. That's why I love Burrito Boyz as well. The pupusas are pretty killer at El Asador though! The breakfast is good too. But seriously you MUST eat at the Korean place directly across the street from Tacos El Asador. Its on the s-e corner of the street, the sign is only in Korean and its flourescent green. (Clinton's is on the S-W corner) Its the one that is packed to the brim with Korean people. As someone who ate kimchi 24/7 in Korea for 2 years, I am confident in saying this is the best shit in town. Its not BBQ, mind you, its dubu (tofu) jiggae. Get the spicy kimchi dubu jiggae. The side dishes all rule as well. Damn.
  15. I am intrigued. Pandora was awesome; I used it all the time when I was in Korea, and it actually did turn me on to some new stuff I'd never heard of before. How does one get this Genius thing going?
  16. I did quite a bit of volunteering last year in Toronto.. It paid off, I made the local news! LOCAL BOY DOES GOOD: http://www.ancasternews.com/news/article/139506
  17. Leaving Ottawa this morning! I'm taking the bus to Montreal, then flying to Uganda via Amsterdam (2 hour layover). Adios! Great to see some of you this week; thanks for the hospitality. Allison, that was a pretty crazy time to be in Uganda, wow! Does your family still have connections and friends there?
  18. And also, why is it telling me to download an XP service pack if I use Vista?? I always get worried about these things...
  19. NW, I honestly have no clue, I was boo-oooozy! Sorry we missed ya. Went straight home to bed. I had a kick ass day on Sunday though, went to the NORDIC spa in Chelsea!
  20. That would make some sense. Thanks for the shots and for the company! It was good times. I whacked my left hip on a ledge in the bar on the way to the bathroom and now have a major bruise. Tongiht I made my first ever visit to Zaphods, to see a friend's band (PURRRR). Not a bad venue at all IMO. I saw Jo Jo McChicken there (singer from The Busboyeez).
  21. I was there. You drank beer in my house. I'll be damned! We (or maybe just me?) never put 2 and 2 together that night. Good times though, and thanks for the beer! Your cd collection is crazy good.
  22. Y'all missed Brood!! (Except for me, Caroline and Sean) We also hit up the Glue Pot for the Hoedown last night, that place is quite the dive! Loved it though.
