  1. I really liked that Letterman performance. Thanks for posting it Rider. That song had elements of late 60's Who and garage-punk tossed together with strands of southern rock, delivered with the style of MMJ. To me, that's mixing almost all of my favoute kinds of music into one. I'm going to seek them out, although I may have to hit up a show or two in March, like the Horseshoe and/or the gig with the Truckers.
  2. I think Mayer has been hearing the voices of too many of his heroes in the past few years and as a result, has abandoned his faux-sensitive pop style for good. His ego is tremendous and his head is remarkably and distractingly disproportionate to that of his skinny body - although it needs to be big to fit in his ego. His music isn't junk in a commercial sense.
  3. My biggest beef with Jack is his arrangements are all the same. In fact, every song sounds exactly the same, even when he's doing a G. Love cover.
  4. Cowboy Junkies @ Massey Hall playing The Trinity Sessions with special guest Ryan Adams, February 23rd. I'll be there.
  5. sweet..... Let's go with; 337. Songs off of albums in which the band has mentioned your name in the liner notes (excluding "fans and friends" and similar names that you know aren't you as well as business' you work at or have worked at) 1. Themasses - Thrice (thanks boys!!) 2. nero - Breakline 3. David Ball (country artist) - everything he's ever done
  6. Thanks guys. I obviously don't know this cat. I will now!
  7. But isn't Jesse Johnson too young for this pre-war blues list? I thought we had to include the artists from that time, which are all dead - except Honeyboy Edwards.
  8. McKeown was on Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown yesterday and the segment was so interesting that I emailed Booche this morning about it. I am watching this for sure tonight. I think they even cover the Mike Webster suicide - which was mention on Prime Time yesterday as well.
  9. The amount of delta/country blues fans on this site I could count on one hand. However, I'm surprised the list hasn't been completed. It's a good list too.
  10. absolutely not, i guess my previous post made it seem llike i did??? I interpreted that you were calling out AD half-jokingly. Oh well. I think Phil has earned an least honourary headliner status and should play the main stage whenever he wants. They should ship Jack off to the comedy tent.
  11. Phil aside, do you actually think that surfer hayseed Jack Johnson warrants headliner status over one the Top 5 biggest bands in the world?
  12. I'm sure you'll have a far better day than I'm having right now. Happy birthday!
  13. I love the gut-wrenching distain the writer has for the eventual Grammy winners. However, Christopher Cross was all over the airwaves until the advent and popularization of music videos, so I disagree somewhat with this line: "Cross pretty much vanished after his 1985 album Every Turn of the World failed to produce a single Top 40 hit." Cross, Steve Miller and many many others fall into the "Video killed the radio-star" category:
  14. I like this lineup so far. Kanye West puts on one hell of a show too. I hope they don't schedule The Swell Season to play the main stage. They are a folk duo and a smaller stage would be the ideal setting to see this incredible act.
  15. The Kids Are Alright - one of the best rock docs ever The Who @ The Isle of Wight Jimi Hendrix @ Woodstock Led Zeppelin - the double-disc from a few years ago.
  16. Have you ever hosed-off Basher with vinegar?
  17. Beeswax are expensive, but last waaaay longer and aren't toxic.
  18. All those tea-light candles are imported from China and are made from chicken-fat, at least that's what my Environmental Studies at U of T wife told me.
  19. Purple Hill's latest album: "I Was Born To Flesh". I've almost finished the review of it too. Good stuff.
  20. I don't know the brand names we use, but I buy all our cleaning supplies (including laundry detergent and fabric softener) at our local organic grocery store, The Big Carrot, or at the organic store Grassroots: http://www.grassrootsstore.com/. We also use beeswax candles too, which last far longer than normal candles and aren't made from chicken-fat.
  21. I'd only be afraid of that car if John DeLorean was behind the wheel.
  22. And normally when a movie sits in the "can" for years, it's for a very good reason, Teen Wolf excluded.
  23. I knew of a few people of similar less than enthused opinion regarding Office Space, however since as the years pass and subsequent re-viewinging have taken place, I haven't met any non-converts yet to embrace the hilarity of Office Space.
